[ATTACH]2269[/ATTACH] a 39 year old akhtar with a balding head clocked 96 mph on these same sky speed guns in 2010, while lee in his prime would have bowled a loosener quicker than the top speed in the competition.:((

He has lost considerable pace in last 1 year, was barely hitting 85-86 mph in last ODI against NZ, very much like Kemar Roach. Roach has lost 5-10 kph of pace after 2011 WC since he changed his action a little bit. Shortened runup is not working for Finn. Finn anyway will not sustain high pace because he does not have an action to do that. He is very much like Ishant Sharma, a rhythm bowler.

You find them one in a decade or two. Like India's batting golden generation of SRT, RD, VVS, and Viru or Aussie batting generation of Hayden, Langer, Ponting, Waugh, Martin, Gilchrist, etc. or quartet of Holding, Roberts, Marshall, and Garner or combination of Wasim-Waqar and Walsh-Ambrose. They are once in a generation players.

They are once in a generation players.[/quote'] We are not going to see super quick bowlers in future , I don't think any one going to risk their lucrative careers. Earlier it was different, cricket mainly played between countries so they can manage workload and not much to lose.

Being quick is a gift that comes natural to some and they are exceptions. The people who have that ability, they will always used that and bowl quick. Look at Brett Lee, he has had a long career despite being bowled 150+ most of his life. It is all bout how one handles oneself. Akhtar did not have a long career because of his won wrong doings.

He chose a format which take care of his financial issues.

Nah, it's more the fact that he's kinda been terribly out of form. In his first spell vs NZ with the shortened runup he was consistently clocking 145+ He got injured a few times and hasn't been in the best of form since then.

Tremlett might be considered in the Ashes. He has picked 2 fifers in the county after returning from the injury.
