asterix Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 The allies are scared of Modi and fear that he will overshadow them and their parties.Advani ...they know his limitations as a leader. That is why he is acceptable. That's what coalition politics is... You've to adjust and compromise. If Modi can win on his own, be everybody's guest. In that case good riddance Advani... Go solo and win... Don't complain about Advani or coalition parties...
ganeshran Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 The allies are scared of Modi and fear that he will overshadow them and their parties.Advani ...they know his limitations as a leader. That is why he is acceptable. Nope. the allies are scared that the presence of Modi will polarize the minority votebank and turn away quite a few majority voters. A 10% vote swing is enough to lose most elections. Even in the closest races, the top 2 parties have a gap in vote share of less than 7-8%

Advani has been enjoying 9 years. he led us to 2 losses in 2004 and 2009. Deadweight needs to go.

Advani has been enjoying 9 years. he led us to 2 losses in 2004 and 2009. Deadweight needs to go. Do you think Modi can go alone and reach 270+ with the only allies who look like staying with the BJP? :cantstop:
FischerTal Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 ^ Advani will lead BJP to the same place they are right now, in the opposition. :good:
Sachin=GOD Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 HOw...what changed? Which Ganga snan dissolved his sins? His stupid Jinnah comments make him secular? Or is it something else..... If Modi is untouchable ...then Advani was his biggest supporter and his lifeline. Why is Advani more acceptable than Modi? Advani may have been a symbol of Hinduvta and the face of the Ram Mandir issue but he is now considered a mild face as compared to Modi. Also, Advani was never as arrogant as Modi and he never believed in the "one man Govt" system which Modi seems to follow. Leaders of coalition partners are also big leaders in their own states and they won't accept being treated like amateurs (which is how Modi treats his ministers and has treated his seniors like Keshubhai, Suresh Mehta etc).
Sachin=GOD Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 "In my political career spanning 40-50 years I have found that more a balloon is inflated the sooner it bursts," - Sharad Pawar said this about Modi a few days ago. I can bet all my money that this is exactly what will happen to Modi. He is getting way too much publicity and is creating way too many opposite opinions to be a serious PM candidate.
beetle Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Frankly speaking voters don't care how Modi treats old f%$ts like Advani or how he is with other politicians. As long as he brings development with minimum corruption.... I was a sceptic...now I want to see what he does.I am sick and tired of the rest.
ganeshran Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 ^ Advani will lead BJP to the same place they are right now' date=' in the opposition. :good:[/quote'] You didnt answer the question. Do you think Modi can win 270+ seats in LS only with Akali and SS
FischerTal Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 ^ allies come once you have the numbers. the same nitish who opposes modi for "secular" reasons was in the cabinet during 2002 riots. i expect BJD and AIADMK to join as well. they certainly wont go anywhere with congress or third front. its just political grandstanding going on right now. but for me the biggest pleasure will be to see congress and the left parties relegated to the bottom. keep your marxist bullshyte where it belongs, in the dustbin PS: not referring to you, but to the ideology of the cong/left
Sachin=GOD Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Frankly speaking voters don't care how Modi treats old f% like Advani or how he is with other politicians. As long as he brings development with minimum corruption.... I was a sceptic...now I want to see what he does.I am sick and tired of the rest. voters don't but potential/current coalition partners do care about these things because they are the ones who would have to work with the PM for 5 years. Parties like JDU/BSP/TMC etc won't have any problem in supporting the UPA Govt if they know that the Cong leadership will listen to them whereas Modi will treat them in a shabby manner and will do what he likes. Modi may be a good leader to run a one-party Govt but he is not the type of person who can run a coalition Govt - that is my view and in a few months I will be proved right.
someone Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Modi is a divisive leader who will drive away potential allies from BJP. Anyone with a basic understanding of politics should understand this. JD(U), Trinamool, BJD, TDP, DMK will not join in NDA headed by Modi - the only consequential allies he could get are Shiv Sena, Akali and a remote chance of allying with JJ in a post poll arrangement. Again, you don't take the straight evidence and prefer to go around it. Modi is a different leader and someone who challenges the status quo and if you think that is divisive, then it's very unfortunate. Also, Modi here is not the real reason but a simple excuse. These changes was always on the cards as these are hungry and greedy politicians out there and LKA has also got that virus.
someone Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 :hmmmm2: if he's using his seniority then why are coalition members saying that they would have no problem with him as leader of the NDA in 2014 and some are now saying that they might find it difficult to continue in NDA if Adnavi is not there. He still is the NDA chief. They want him to head the organization like Sonia Gandhi, and I don't have a problem with that. The problem rises when this chief wants to dictate things because of his senority.
someone Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Every decade, there should be changes in politics. Even in China, every decade it changes and so does in democracy countries like USA. There is absolutely no question that there should be change, BJP deserves someone different. Even Congress understands that well and thus have been looking aggressively to bring forward Rahul Gandhi. But unfortunately or fortunately depending on which party you support, he has big weakness like communication, public speaking and getting connected to audience. While on the opposite side, Modi is the champion and has absolute strengths in those. Thus this RahulG movement has slipped.
Sachin=GOD Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Again' date=' you don't take the straight evidence and prefer to go around it. These changes was always on the cards as these are hungry and greedy politicians out there and LKA has also got that virus. it is quite simple - a large majority of Indian think that he was the man behind the Gujarat Riots and that he is anti-Muslim. He has done nothing in the last 10-12 years to dispel that notion so you can't fault people or the mainstream media to raise that issue again and again and to think of him as a divisive leader. In fact the only reason why Nitish can't accept Modi is because Nitish has to protest his Muslim votes in Bihar. He still is the NDA chief. They want him to head the organization like Sonia Gandhi' date=' and I don't have a problem with that. [b']The problem rises when this chief wants to dictate things because of his senority. its the coalition members who have openly said that they would accept Advani as the PM candidate - he has still not gone on record saying he wants to be PM candidate so where is the question of him asking to dictate things. If anything, its Modi who has been a dictator in Gujarat and has now forced the party into accepting criminals like Amit Shah as General Secretary and in-charge of important states like UP. BTW that news report on which you have based your quote (one about Advani setting 3 conditions) you read was unconfirmed - if it was true then that would be the only news running across all new channels right now. Its just a baseless rumour like many others spread by the media.

Advani has stepped out. Modi is the new leader.. Let him win it for BJP.. Who's stopping him? BJP is a democratic party... People who don't agree will step aside or get suspended from the party... So what's the problem?

Various allies have already balked at Modi heading NDA. JD(U) which is the strongest ally has indicated it will not be a part of the coalition if Modi is the PM candidate. There is not a single significant party that has indicated they will move over to BJP if Modi spearheads the election campaign. Post poll alliances may take shape but NDA has to go over the 220 mark and emerge as the single largest party in order for that to be relavent
