270907ponting300.jpg A SIMMERING, wounded and quietly envious Australia is ready to take the c0ck-a-hoop India down a peg or two in the one-day series that starts in Bangalore tomorrow.The world champion Test and one-day team arrived in India this week in time to see, if you can put yourself in their shoes for a moment, a bunch of wet-behind-the-ears cricketers showered with cars, houses, cash and the unbridled devotion of a billion people because they managed to win a hit-and-giggle Twenty20 contest in South Africa.The impertinence of it all clearly does not sit well with a proud team that has dominated world cricket for so long. Ricky Ponting is a trained statesman who has learned to hide his street-fighter's fist inside his velvet captain's glove, but you could see the clear and menacing outline of knuckle-duster as he spoke yesterday. "Good luck to them," Ponting said. "The young Indian team played well, but of course they will now have to make way for the senior players like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly, which is a shame." In fact, he pointed out that Australia knows that trio quite well, so it's really to Australia's advantage that they are back.Ponting didn't say it, but Australia has beaten India in nine of its past 10 one-day meetings, with most of these senior players somewhere about. As captain, he has never been in charge of a losing side in the past two ODI World Cups. Source

Hahahaha..There you go!!! I am loving it Ponting miyaan. Give it to us Indians cos we choose to take high moral grounds and follow it with a "lets bat do the talking" hahahahaha. Wonder what our profound posters who keep on saying, "Ponting is generally right and he does what he says", have to say about this. Going by their statements it should be that Indian big 3 should retire right away lol. As always I expect SRT, Dravid to say ghanta in reply. Humiliation complete!

Ponting ki phati padi hai is waqt.. he knows that his team is in troulble and hence to gain some moral advantage hez talking trash.. this would backfire him.. saala ullo ka charkha.. their new odi bowling line up would be selling a kelvinator Refrigerator, saying hazar kaa ek this time rather then being seen in kelvinator adv itself unlike 01 series

Which is also the reason someone from our side should remind me that he averages 12 in India. Which is also another reason why Indian ex players should remind the world of the achievements of Stuart Clark and Mitchell Johnson.

exactly.. stuart clark might be good prospect, but he is alredy being said "the next mcgrath" .. first he should start taking wickets in bulk,, rather then just being glorified for his performance against England in ashes.. the real test would be this one for clark and co... also the test series in aus later this year..

Why dropping the old f@rts makes sense;

"Three very good and experienced players coming back will obviously add a bit to the Indian team. But the one thing that stood out for all of us, looking at the Indian team throughout the Twenty20, was the amount of youthfulness they had in the team. It's been well-documented that they fielded well all tournament and I think it's a fresh outlook on the game. The thing for us is that we've play against those guys a lot [Dravid, Ganguly, Tendulkar] and we should know their strengths and weaknesses very well. If anything, it'll probably make it a lot easier for us to play India with those guys in the team."

the proof will be in the pudding ... there are several Indian players who will get in his face ... SS, Zak and kartik if he starts spouting nonsense on the field. Steroid Monkey AKA Haydos was spouting **** to Yuvvi ... look what happened .. Yuvi also brandished the bat in his general direction. Mooh tod jawaab

Aussies are $hit scared.... see half of the matches will see 100+ opening partnership and that will be out of reach for Kangaroos.. Let us worry about the rest of the matches..

if thats the case, the trio know australia quite well too....and thts reason enough for them to play..though i feel a rotation policy would be the order of the day...it would say a. we are looking at our future in mind b. our new guys are good enough for you c. if we have sachin/ganguly in reserve, think about how powerful we are..... d. Its our future thts imp to us, not what u do here
