saneindian Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 In an interesting move, the Mumbai selection committee decided to include 14-year-old Armaan Jaffer in the Ranji Trophy probables list along with his uncle and state team stalwart Wasim Jaffer. In what can be termed a rarity in Indian cricket, ‘Chacha-Bhatija’ duo will be training together for the same team which also includes Sachin Tendulkar, who would be getting a few first-class games before embarking on Test series in South Africa. It will be a once-in-a lifetime opportunity for Armaan to train alongside a legend like Tendulkar as well as uncle Wasim who is considered one of the finest batsman in domestic cricket. He might get an opportunity to face a Zaheer Khan or a Dhaval Kulkarni at the nets. Reuters Armaan has been a force to reckon with in Mumbai’s tough school cricket circuit as he became a household name with a knock of 473 in last February for his school Rizvi Springfield in the prestigious Harris Shield final at the Matunga Gymkhana ground. Interestingly, he also scored an astounding 498 in the Giles Shield final back in 2010. Armaan has been a regular member of the Mumbai U-16 squad in the last edition of the Vijay Merchant Trophy. He may not make the cut in the final squad but this experience will hold him in good stead when he plays for the U-19′s in the coming season. He couldn't get too many games for Bombay in the last season, nor for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, and now does not even make the probables squad. Anyone know whether it's due to injury, lack of form, lack of chances, or just too much initial hype?

MCcricket Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Good to see Sudhir Naik as chairman of selectors , hopefully we will see good talent, wonder why Mohd Amir not in any team , even not in u25, lst year he was in the squad and did not play any games, said to be a fast bowler , a lot of dead beats in the team, hopefully these two young guys are phenomenally talented and will represent India as Mumbai needs to have some representation in the national squad, pace bowlers are disappointing, Waigankar, Sandhu, Dabholkar, S Thakur are ultra trundlers.

That is what I am wondering about, Mumbai is the haven for trundlers embarrassingly bowling at 115 k, MCA is crap so is ddca and gca, Waigankar, Sandhu, Thakur all bowl 115 k and about and are crap.Mumbai has genuine pace but doesn't get into the team.
