Sidhoni
We produce many world calls batsmen BECAUSE we had a Sachin. Don't forget that. Most of these youngsters (including Dravid) grew up admiring Sachin and practicing to be a batsman, he was the reason many took up a cricket bat and made cricket their career. Dhoni too says this. Lets not take our batting for granted. We had Gavaskar who inspired Sachin but Sachin's popularity inspired so many of our current batsmen Hopefully Dhoni will inspire more big hitters and captains from India in the future Dravid is same age as Sachin :dontknow: Haain? Yeh to kuch zyaada ho gaya yaaar. Tendulkar is special' date=' irreplaceable and once in a generation but common.... [b']you are doing a Sidhoni with Tendulkar here. :WTF: Link to comment
Divvy
err Sachin the ODI batsman is practically unreplacable. Sachin didnt just score runs, he scored centuries more frequently than anyone else in ODI cricket, particularly if you consider that all his centuries (49) came in a 375 match stretch. That is unbelievable, the guy scored a ton every year for 19 years! nine teen ! Also, he is miles and miles ahead of any top order bat when it comes to runs scored vs OZ, RSA and Pakistan, the three awesome bowling units of his time. The thing that is irreplacable about Tendy isnt just the sheer magnitude of his runs or that he scored centuries every 7 innings, its his consistency- tendy very rarely went more than 5-6 matches without scoring a ton or 90s. For nearly two decades, Tendy very rarely had even a 10 match strech where he struggled. That is irreplacable, really. Very well written. :hatsoff: If you include the fifties, it's like almost he scored 50+ runs in every 4-5 innings. He has seen almost 5 generations of cricketers. No one, NO ONE in the cricket world can match this. Link to comment
CSK Fan
Dravid is same age as Sachin :dontknow: :WTF: Sachin debuted as a 16 year old. He was almost a legend at 19. So yes, he also inspired people from my generation Link to comment
velu
Dhoni me guess , its difficult for sachinstas to argue against Dhoni using statistics :finger: Link to comment

So yes' date=' he also inspired people from my generation[/quote'] So you are saying that Dravid first took up a cricket bat when he was 19? :hysterical: FYI the 3 of them (Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly) went to a u-14 tour to England much earlier than Sachin's debut. By the same logic, Gavaskar must have inspired Sachin so he deserves more credit. Link to comment

You have been going around on multiple forums bad mouthing him for years. So your opinion doesn't carry much weight, IMO Link to comment

One of the reason so many of our youngsters took up batting was only because of Sachin and that's why India is still batting obsessed as compared to bowling obsessed. Dhoni, Kohli, etc have openly admitted this So your claim that we always have world class batsmen is faulty because it is dependent on this premise. Link to comment
jalebi_bhai
SRT anyday......bcoz of the sheer number of matches he won for us single handedly in his prime.......before Ganguly and Dravid emerged.......our batting was pretty much Sachin and 10 other men.......with Azhar and Jadeja fixing matches every now and then and Sidhu steadily declining.......Dhoni is brilliant in ODIs but he has never had to carry the team on his shoulders the way SRT had to.....
