its not that difficult considering that Yuvraj was in very good form and Raina' date=' despite playing only a few games in the WC till then, had played crucial knocks and was also looking good.[/quote'] Yuvi was in good form but he always struggled big time against Murali and the ball was turning as well. Maybe u were confident but for me i wasnt confident even after taking the Bat Powerplay. Afterall we collapsed like a pack of cards in almost every group game to inspire any confidence in tail.

dhoni had a cushion in the wc finals with an inform yuvi, raina to come even bhajji can be useful bt wont take anything away from that knock

I will never get over his decision to put Aussies into bat in 03
I think for a match as important as the WC Final the entire team (or at least the seniors and the coach etc) would have decided in advance what the Captain would chose if he won the toss - it couldn't have been just Ganguly's decision.

with Yuvraj and Raina in good form I was pretty confident that we could do it without Dhoni promoting himself.

Maybe but Ganguly will/should have had the final say.

nopes. For most players in the team it was the most important match of their life and batting or fielding first could have made a big difference in the match so most players would have been involved in the decision.

that was because they bundled us in a juicy morning track in the group stage, the management and he did not want to give the aus bowlers to utilize the freshness of the track in the morning session.. anyway that aus team had an aura of dominance amongst them,it was very difficult to beat them

but he shouldn't be held responsible in such a situation where obviously it wasn't his decision alone.
Its never his decision alone.team meetings are held in almost all games where such things are discussed.almost all off field decisions are taken after lots of discussion.but the captain is held responsible

that was at Centurion AFAIK,Joburg was flat so it was a dumb call. anyway in knockout matches, its better to bat first.

still their was some freshness early morning in joburg.. gang and management wanted our pacers to utilize it and they thought the pitch would get better in the 2nd innings, they just did not want a repeat of 125 AO,call it fear!! the bowlers were crap though, horrendous line and lengths accompanied with full tosses, pathetic

it wasn't so much a case of the bowlers being crap as it was of the Australian batsmen being far superior on that day.

fair enough' date='but i believe ganguly led and batted better than dhoni in 2003 wc[/quote'] Alas Namibia and Kenya were not there in 2011, 3 100s vs them one of them was when we were under pressure chasing , 125 runs in rest of the 8 matches :P

no we were way too nervous.15 runs in first over without them doing anything.from then they just made merry on useless bowling

Kenya were semi finalists in that tournament. Not sure how they can be discounted as minnows from that tournament based on their overall record.

Yes - our bowlers were cr@p on that day. We had close to as good a bowling line up as anyone in the tournament but we crumbled under pressure.

They were mainly in the semis because SA and NZL simply refused to play them.
