Lords is actually a patchwork of stands from different eras and is surrounded by council housing. Apart from the main stand and the media center is pretty **** I would say in England Durham have the best ground.

Hubli returns to first-class stage in style

The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has repeatedly stressed the need to provide cricketers across all age groups outside Bangalore with the facilities they require to make their pitch for higher honours. Towards that end, it has started academies across the state and upgraded grounds. One such facility is the KSCA Stadium in Raj Nagar, Hubli. Nestled in a quiet residential corner just outside the industrial area is the latest facility which is hosting its first Ranji Trophy game (Karnataka v Haryana which began on Saturday, December 22), also the first Ranji fixture in Hubli in 20 years. The last match, which marked Sunil Joshi’s debut, was played at the Nehru Stadium. The new stadium, built on a 15-acre land, boasts a lush green outfield, temporary seating that can accommodate 10,000 fans and is slightly bigger than the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore in terms of playing area. The land, previously a helipad to cater to VIP landing in the city, was identified by the KSCA in 2005 but given the hilly terrain surrounding the venue, completely clearing the ground of rocks meant the project had to be put on the back burner for a while. After Anil Kumble and his team took over in November 2010, the new dispensation obtained the necessary clearance from the Hubli District Municipal Corporation to begin construction at the ground, obtained on lease. Two years later, the venue was given the nod to host Ranji matches by the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s ground inspection committee. The stadium complex also houses a state-of-the-art academy with three turf pitches and bowling machines. However, instant video feedback through Cognitive Video-based Coaching (CVBC), which has been introduced at the main academy in Bangalore, isn’t yet in operation here, as it is scheduled to be implemented across academies in the state in a phased manner. The new facility in Hubli was inaugurated on Saturday by Jagadish Shettar, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, in the presence of Kumble, GR Viswanath, the chairman of the RC-KSCA Academy, and Syed Kirmani, the director of the academy. “This is a proud moment for KSCA, for after eight years of planning, we finally have this lovely facility in Hubli ready for Ranji Trophy matches,†said Kumble. “This is another step in our endeavour to create world-class facilities all over the state.†All players from North Karnataka who have represented the state were presented with mementoes, and top clubs across non-urban centres in the state as well as curators across Karnataka too were recognised for their contributions. “We’ve had a lot players like Sunil Joshi, Anand Katti, Suresh Shanbal and Somashekar Shiraguppi, among others, playing with distinction for the state,†said Kumble. “We hope many more will emerge from these regions which are not short of talent.†While young talent from the Hubli-Dharwad Zone will receive quality training at the academy, curators from the region will undergo specified training in accordance with standards laid out by the Pitches and Grounds Committee of the BCCI.

I love that Design ... Atleast its different and stands out among all other stadiums where Designing is not given any importance unlike the Football stadiums in Europe.

HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala, India. A cricket ground where a bowler can accurately be described as running in from the Himalayas end is clearly an unusual addition to the international circuit. The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association advertise their new stadium as "the most attractive ground in India", and that is not an idle boast. At an elevation of 4,110 feet, it will this weekend become the highest international ground in the world, and it is overlooked by the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas that includes snow-capped peaks three times higher. The air is crisp, Vultures and Eagles soar nearby, and the Dalai Lama has established his Tibetan Government in Exile just up the hill in Mcleodganj.
