He gets the kind of seam movement which no Indian bowler gets. I call that reverse seam and only seen Asif doing that before which leaves batsmen in decisive. Shami and Mohit have similar pace. Mohit's quickest is aorund 139-140, Shami 142, but both bowls at an average pace around 135. These are still early days for both. Shami is good but he is still a work in progress, has some issues to work with. Front foot landing, foot is pretty high in the air when he releases the ball due to this his fuller deliveries dont have enough impetus behind them and just float, as a result he has to bowl shorter in length which does not help him get wickets, long strides in runup is an issue too.

Yes they both should improve, Shami on his runup and landing, Mohit has to work a bit on his pace, hope selectors look at Pankaj, Suyal, Kaul, Choudhury, Anwar who I think could be test potential, BK is quite good, Shami bowls a bit faster at fast medium,Mohit, VK, bk, pk very similar and only BK LOOKS BEST AMONG THEM, WE CANNOT HAVE SOO MANY TRUNDLERS IN TEST AND ODI.

Ok so why didn't Mohit get any 'reverse seam' in the 20 odd overs he bowled? To me he just looked like the typical innocuous Indian trundler.

Better control than average trundler

Asif was different he got natural swing then the ball seamed off the pitch.I still remember the ball he dismissed she wag the ball swung in then seamed off the pitch.Mohit does not get much swing .

Mohit also gets swing the air toom moslty inswing but ball goes away most times after pitching rather than come back in. The video that RavishingRavi posted shows that. Look Finch's dismissal in that. Ball came swung-in in the air and went away after pitching. Asif's main seam delivery was the ball which comes back in while batsman thinks it will be an outswinger because of seam position pointing towards slips.

He was getting reverse seam on both matches. All of his wickets were on reverse seam. You dont understand what did I mean by reverse seam as that is rare thing. His seam position moslty is pointing toward fine leg for inswing and ball comes into the batsman in the air but moves away after pitching that is reverse seam. It leaves batsman confused. He think it will come in due to seam position angling in but rather it goes away after pitching. Asif used to get opposite reverse seam. His seam will point towards first slip for an outswinger but ball will land on tilted seam and will cut into the batsman which usually has fooled a lot batsmen by making them leave it but it will come in and hit pad or stumps. Remember Karachi 2006 Laxman's wicket.

saw highlights of the 5th ODI. Mohit was barely touching 125 mph. He was in the 135 zone in the 4th ODI. I think towards the end of his spell he further fell. I have big worries about this kid and stamina. The ODIs were played two days apart. He was fine in the first one before putting in a reduced performance in the second. Its all well in the T20s where you have to bowl 4 overs and we done with it. I have seen even Mithun touch 140k in the T20s and he is an out and out trundler. So Mohit will be in the 135 zone for the T20s. No issue there. But longer the format more of a trundler he will be. In contrast somebody like Unadkat has bowled 135 plus in all the 5 ODIs. I can see a good future for him in the limited overs.

Did they have a speedgun? Ten Cricket did now show speeds. Or is that your visual interpretation? Another thing to consider, first couple of hours yesterday were terribly cold and chilly with temperatures hovering around 9-10 C. Bowlers generally tend to be slower during such biting cold

its my guesstimate. But i guarantee you that Mohit was much slower than what we was in the 4th ODI played at the same venues and bowled at the same time of day (india bowled first i believe in both) Secondly i did not see a change in Unadkat also bowling from the other end. He was bowling at the same pace he has during the series. That all tells me that Mohit has stamina issues. Dont think its the cold as conditions were nearly the same for both ODIs.
