maybe rather than asking how these countries have so many umpires we need to up our game and get elite umpires in there. BCCI has just not got a system in place to produce the umpires. From what i see in the IPL and Indian home ODI matches umpire Kulkarni seems to have some promise. But i doubt anybody can make the international panel. Venkat was a very good umpire and there has been nothing since....
