Ok,The wife and the baby are away for a month.....Yes I Miss the Baby :(( So decided to develop a pet project.I would like to build my Own PC,Buy every part right from scratch...Of course, there is youtube, Blogs and experts I know. This place seems to be filled with Techmolonigicali(Did I spell it right) advanced people and cool nerds who can give me more tips and advice etc. So Help me out with each part that goes in and obviously the Desi in me will hunt for the best and cheapest deal.At the end I want to build my own PC and also make it cost-effective.Obviously due to budget constraints It will take over a time when I assemble each part,But today is a shubh muhurat, so want to get started. Help please

Building a PC these days is almost like assembling lego blocks - all you need to do is decide what blocks you want. The only way you will get help is by mentioning your requirements - processor, RAM, motherboard etc. Each block will be discussed - assembling is literally child's play.

^ok Lets say I want the Harddrive with most space.....AFAIK 3 TB is the max I have seen on the market,so let us say I am looking for a 3tb drive and it is super expensive I will settle for a 2tb but pursue the best deals in order to get there.....Similarly like you mentioned i need good reviews and addvice as to what I need to get....say for eg;I want enhanced Movie or gaming experience, where do I need to start or what is recommended?I will do the bargain hunting,Just need recommendations...Thanks in advance :icflove:

You need to list the parts required for the PC - processor, motherboard, hard drive, RAM, optical drive, graphics card, hard disk, power supply, keyboard, monitor etc. For each of these parts you should list your requirement - for example, you have said your minimum hardware requirement for HD space is 2TB. Once done - search for the value of each of these parts online and local retailer (I don't know where you stay, so can't recommend retailers). In case, you want to discuss each component of your PC - start a sub thread discussion here on the component. For example - Hard Disks with 2TB space (SATA/PATA) and ICF'ers can pitch in with their experiences on each component. I am bit outdated with desktop hardware (I was very active 3-4 years back) but may be able to pitch in depending on my knowledge. Assembling all of those is child's play - most parts will come with a manual on "How to assemble" and you will be done in 20-30 minutes top. HTH!

The I-7 of course.....Is that the most advanced available currently?
NO. There is AMD X6 which is quiet a competitor. What's your purpose? High end gaming or a decent rig?

Other than choosing high memory graphic card & ram with high rpm hdd there aint much left to analyze before bulinding a good high speed pc these days.
That's wrong info, bud. You run those configs on a P4 or a PSU with a power supply of 250-320, you will end up burning your desktop. You need a good combination. Sometimes an Nvdia GPU and a combination of AMD CPU can cause BSOD and other hardware related errors.

Well I am more of a console gamer(ps3).....Had a red ring of death already on my 360 and I dont play the WII....anyways.....For some reason always had a better impression on the I-Series more than the AMD. Anyways,It's just a fun-project I decided to do and it will take awhile till I get all my bargains and get started...So need to look into the price ranges and see the benefits of each I guess.
