Because he is a decent all-rounder at the domestic level , better than the Binny's and others ..don't forget he took 6 wickets in the first India A vs.NZ A test match ..he opens the batting for MP ..also he has been one of the better performers for the India A teams in the past on West Indies and England tours..

Jalaj and R Dhawan deserve a spot more so than Binny, either one could have gone to SA even tbh instead of Binny.

His selection in A team first time had raised few eye-brows and rightfully so. But later on he justified his position with performances on these tours. So I don't think his selection should be questioned at this moment.
