Reviews to be reset after 80 overs.

The number of reviews available for a team in a Test innings will be topped-up to two after 80 overs in an innings. The system will be trialed from October 1, 2013 in all Tests where the Decision Review System (DRS) is available, the ICC announced on Wednesday in Dubai after its chief executives' meeting. Currently, a team is allowed up to two unsuccessful reviews per innings. More to follow

The umpire referral thing is a bad idea. Then you are just reducing the on-field umpire to a meaningless, symbolic figure. We still want the man in the middle to be able to make substantive calls that matter. Here’s another workaround – How about give additional referrals to the team as the innings progresses? Just like how you get a new ball every 80 overs, you get 2 additional referrals after 80 overs. This way, even if the team had used up all of its referrals within the first 80, they get two new ones that use from that point onwards. This may almost completely solve the issue of teams running out of referrals. The probability of teams making 2 incorrect referrals within in the 80 overs is not entirely non-existent, but quite low.

Teams won't learn until it bites them back when they run out of referrals and get a howler. Till then they will abuse the system.

Will only highlight the teams that are desperate enough to do that. Doesnt make any difference if they do it in the last over or the first over. Still the same amount of time.
