Aditi
Marirs in the second last photo there is a powder. Last time I ate that powder with dosa/idli was 10+ years ago  Do you know what that powder is called? That would be malgapodi chutney. That stuff is DA BOMB with plain dosas!! coffee_rules
That would be malgapodi chutney. That stuff is DA BOMB with plain dosas!! We call it "chutney pudi" or "Gun powder".
Aditi
We call it "chutney pudi" or "Gun powder". Yeah we call it all those names too at home....powder chutney, pudi chutney, gun poweder, etc etc :D
coffee_rules
I like SI breakfast and NI lunch/dinner. NI curries are much more tastier than sambar/palyas that are prepared with ready-made masala. But I like Bise Bele Bhath as much as NI curries. If sambar masala is prepared fresh (fry ingredients and grind it to a paste), it beats any NI curry.

Ram
Oh no ! Not again.. I would sincerely request the esteemed members here to consider the quandry of yours truly. A pakka south Indian guy who hasnt eaten proper south Indian food for close to 15 months now. He visits a discussion forum and sees thread after thread filled with mouth-watering pics of the best S.I delicacies. He has never felt homesick , till yesterday that is.:whatchutalkingabout
coffee_rules
yes rasam garnished with tadka of mustard, cilantro, curry leaves and lots of 'hing' (asfoetida). Beats any soup. A local south Indian joint gives out a free glass of rasam with any order.
Brainfade
my personal favourite is Yengay (Baingan subzi prepared in a different way) That too!!
coffee_rules
yes BB ... do they make that in B'lore ? Yes, they do. There are some N.Karnataka restaurants in B'lore. We do it at home. It is somewhat similar to 'Bagaira Baigan' esp with a Hyderbadi Moghlai recipe.
