Old guy Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 no our openers arent that bad, even if they dont score, they can see off the new ball along with no.3 Pujara is most important for us.if we lose him to new ball, which can happen,we are screwed big time.if he comes later he can rescue us even from tricky position and get big score Nope if this is the case best batters will play at number 5 for every team but does not happens and all paki lejuunds of past are cricized cos of this and so was Lara
India-KXIP fan Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Guys lets not mistake the ODI Dhawan for test Dhawan. I'm sure he'll be more watchful with his shot selection. He has a good technique to block the in swinger. His only problem is moving around too much when the ball seams away from the right hander and going for too many shots. However' date=' in tests I expect him to be more restrained[/quote'] I think he did poor even in Ranji when playing like that. He will go for it in tests as well cause it's what's worked for him. It may or may not come off but he will go for it.

Yeah makes sense when u have other senior players to DL the job.we have none and puujara and kohli have to take responsibility as they are the most senior and well set batsmen in team !

We need 3 good nightwatchmen for Che and Kohli basically :P
Old guy Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 not gonna happen if this was case tailenders would open and best batsmen will play at end but it is clearly not good ur best batsmen should play at top for me its very simple

Not a solid bat at 3 against quality is just guaranteeing 3/40 every game.
Ghost Buster Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I will be more worried about vijay than dhawan. Seriously its pretty tough for openers in SA conditions. The challenge is to survive a full session.

vvvslaxman Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 He needs a bit of luck there. They clincially plotted Viru's dismissal by having a third man straight away. For Dhawan i expect them to have two gullies seperated by couple of feet, If you block certain areas Dhawan can be induced into playing false shot. This is why i was talking about him improving his game in the V area. He should have game plan to upset their strategy.

But if the ball is in his area he does go after regardless. Gambhir showed immense restraint last time. Even he lived a charmed life. But he did show lots of application. If Dhawan shows the same he will be successful. Sehwag did not show restraint and did not show adequate respect and paid the price.
