Do u think Shikar Dhawan has the technique to do well in SA?

I am not sure if Shikar Dhawan has the technique required to play on bouncy tracks. But one thing is for sure, he is very high on confidence right now and this will ensure atleast a decent run in South Africa. The problem will arise when he fails in 3 to 4 matches continuously and his confidence is shaken. He needs to maintain his temperament even then. Also, he needs to keep improving his technique continuously and not go the Gambhir way.

Tests SA in SA is tough for even the legend of legends of the game. Ask Dravid or SRT or VVS - they may have scored some runs, but extremely tough they'd say SA in SA. So don't be surprised if SD finds it tough going. We shud cut him some slack.

S.D might do well and hope he does well Things in his favor-He is a good player of the cut shot. But if I was betting real money on him I would say no. I see how his comfort zone or go to shot against pace (especially in LOI's) seems to be move way ahead in the crease or step down to get to the pitch of the ball, but the awkward bounce in South Africa may not suit him well....He will do well in England and NZL though. Might struggle in S.A and some AUs pitches.

Gambhir was excellent last time. Probably the only touring opener in world cricket to succeed there in recent years. No Philander back then though. Mooli will be lucky to cross 10 :hehe: My prediction: 2 fifties from Da one, decent runs/average. Mooli highest score 23 with 2 ducks.

Whoever the openers are they have to do a decent job at least. No excuses. This is India's best ever chance to win in SA. It's only 2 tests! 1 fluke win and 1 draw gives you a series win! Last two times India toured they have won at least 1 match, repeat that plus 1 draw = series win= world No.1. So openers have to be solid. :ohyeah:

lol best ever chance to win in SA when SA are perhaps at their strongest with 4 batsmen averaging 50+ and bowlers looking in top form while we are still rebuilding with lots of players not even having played 20 tests? We would have done well if we take both the tests to day 5. Dhawan should do reasonably well, can play the cut and pull well. Plus the ODIs being played ahead of tests should help him adjust his game to the conditions.

So what even Sri Lanka beat them in a test in SA. It's only 2 tests anything can happen :poink: SA can be completely off in tests sometimes, not the type that's gonna win 16 in a row. They just lost 1 to Pakistan then win next by an innings, they beat India by an innings in 10' then lost next by innings. And Kallis may be finished now as his UAE scores suggest. And good bowlers etc doesn't matter, no one can get Kohli out, SA bowlers probably scared to bowl to him right now. Da one, Chepu, Kohli, Talent= best players in world :agree:

no he won;t its bloody hard for openers..i just hope they survive 20-30 overs so that chepu and kohli can come in without pressure
Okay. I am not bringing up the Vijay debate here but what makes you think he won't do well? You think Vijay might, but not Dhawan?

Honestly, I wanted SRT in the squad as the only reliable player in SA. He was decent in Australia as well. I am a bigger fan of Pujara than Kohli but I back Kohli to do better than him there.

Yeah kohli has advantage of playing older ball and also lesser bowlers at start . Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

Thats why I want Chepu and Kohli to bat at 4 and 5 so that they can face older ball.atleast Philander will be easier to handle.if they come in against new ball, they can score big runs. With new ball even Pujara might not last long. maybe have GG back at 3.or even Rahane at 3.
