saneindian Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 This strange obsession of having Ishant in the team and not letting him play domestic cricket is intriguing. He may be the most talented bowler ever in view of Dhoni and Fletcher but a time away from national squad will do him no harm. Ask him to bowl more in domestic cricket now that he's not part of the regular 11. Post the 3rd ODI, he hasnt been picked and will not be for 7th ODI. Could have gone out to play for Delhi. Even during the tests, will continue to warm the benches when he could so easily be working on his bowling away from the glare of the cameras.

G_B_ Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 @sane well i think mostly MSD will do with bhuvi and umesh. So that does sort of make ishant rot on the bench. But in a way i dont mind too much. The squad should pick itself Rahane or Rohit is the big question. Rest of the side barring injuries picks itself.

Middle-order :- Pujara,Kohli,Rohit,Rahane,Raina(he'll be picked :(( I'd love to see Juneja in there). Keeper/Bat :- Dhoni,Samson? Spinners :- Ashwin,Jadeja. Seamers :-Zak,Umesh,BK,Shami,Pandey.

Since when Rohit and Rahane are openers in 4-5 day games? Was SRT a test openers just because he opened in ODIs or even Ganguly.

Neither Rahane nor Rohit are specialist openers for test matches.They are selected to bat in the middle order.
