King Tendulkar Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I have heard he works hard but is not very smart. Maybe he needs sometime building up his body and add some extra pace - thats the only way I see him come back in reckoning. Personally I think he needs to work more on moving the ball, as it comes out gun barrel straight. Needs to work on action and/or wrist position to either get seam movement and/or swing. Needs a stock ball which moves
MCcricket Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Eng, Aus are smart in managing their bowlers and looking at bowlers form , Finn, Tremlett, if they are not bowling at their full tilt or back from injury they sit out or not played until they are bowling well, if Finn was Indian he would be played every game even if he was woefully out of form and never learn to bowl full tilt or get back in form,I dont think VK, Mithun, Unadkat would be picked up in any decent team as Aussies, POM's would clearly see they are not test class
GoldenSun Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I agree that he is just 25, but he has to start over from the basics and steel himself to make a comeback. It's not impossible, but ONLY he can help himself.
MCcricket Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I agree that he is just 25' date=' but he has to start over from the basics and steel himself to make a comeback. It's not impossible, but ONLY he can help himself.[/quote'] Its not to difficult either if ur mind is uncluttered, first he has to get a few games under his belt, keep bowling, then analyze what he needs to do, he has technical flaws with his action, his landing foot, follow thru, once he sort those two other problems like pace, bounce, natural incoming deliveries, wrist will sort itself out, his runup is OK, also with an optimized action he will get better direction and length as well he can control better.
MCcricket Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Bowlers like Kallis, WATTO what they have done is more difficult is after injury change action and then find form, his problem is more to do with will and thinking, thought process
saneindian Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 You couldn't make this up! :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: A senior bowler who has played for India as a to guide him in the same Ranji team, wonder what is there to laugh about it.
gakgupta Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Ishant has all the ingredients of a pace bowler...pace hirght and upright seam....he can just be a devastating bowler but unfortunely lost all os it. send him to manoj prabhakar.....what the big deal....infact he was the one who guided him before the 2008 ozzie series....some times small things might make a huge difference

Inabilty to get seam in right place to get swing and seam.
Raghav_12 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 No thanks. I would rather prefer to save India.
Forever Indian Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Thats probably his biggest issue. Inabilty to get seam in right place to get swing and seam. More than that the bigger issue is his inability to use some grey cells in his brain
GoldenSun Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 More than that the bigger issue is his inability to use some grey cells in his brain Exactly. He keeps bowling short no matter how much times he gets walloped.
King Tendulkar Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Exactly. He keeps bowling short no matter how much times he gets walloped. When you cant get the ball to move, you get desperate and resort to changes in length. If he could make the ball move he could stick to a certain length. Same with Vinnay, cant move the ball so resorts to all kinds of weird stuff in desperatiom
MCcricket Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Ishant was never a skillfully bowler to begin with , when he had a good rhythm and stable Action and did not fall over his seam was always wobbly but mixed with his action some balL's came in and some bounced and very few kept straight that was his USP, he has lost that which he had for a year or two and was bowling well, 80% of his int career is spent trying to fix things rather then bowl confidently because he forgot his natural bowling

It's one of the reasons, why Bhuvi, despite not being able to bowl 140+, is very good. He can make the ball seam and swing.

Maybe needs to go back to his natural action to get the movement?

But needs someone now who knows what they are doing for him to rediscover. Bhuvi is different league. Highly skilled, highly intelligent bowler, knows his art like shami
King Tendulkar Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 All jokes aside, first thing he should do is cut his air or tie it back. He literally cant see with hair all over his eyes.
MCcricket Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Bottom line this guy should not be back and needs a long lay off, 6 years is too long to be a bowler who is a work in progress and regressing, Indian selectors, capt, coach simply cannot figure out how to judge , help kick out bowlers .A couple of years back him bowling with Steyn in IPL he looked fantastic , bowled mid 140 and better then Steyn and even good batters looked clueless, but with him good moments r like the rare ones

Axed and stay away. What this thread is saying I assume is once axed what can he do to get back in
