vishalvirsingh Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 This thread is to share what do u think dhoni will select as the bowling attack in the first test starting at wnderers on 18th..remember it is the first ODI track and wud be very fast... what would be the attack that dhoni selects and what should be the attack that INDIA shud play.. i beleive DHONI will play Shammi ZAK Ashwin ISHant sharma...... where as I beleive he should select- Umesh YADAV- He is bound to create good chances and its upto dhoni to put right players to catch. SHAMMI- he is likely to be the trump card in africa and take most wickets...i saw in wankahde and he was pushing the west indies batsman back on indian tracks ...he is in deadly form- success is guranteed for him now in africa...dhoni has to give him the most users. ZAK shud use the new ball and when other guys are not able to take a wicket i doubt his fitness so i dont expect him to bowl more than 10 overs in a day with full pace... if he bowls 15 overs it cud be with reduced pace... ISHANT SHARMA- this is his time.. he is so bad with his seam that he has chances to suceed only at wanderer's in africa as it is the most bouncy track...........he will surely get success if he plays. and NO spinners on Wanderers TRACK as it is a Fast and BOUNCY TRACK..since its a bouncy track ishant has to play ahead of BK- ashwin was a big failure in wanderers...see his analysis and Hence he or jadeja shud not play in wanderers we have to play 6 batsman and dhoni to suceed but if we play 4 fast bowlers i bet we may give them a fight...
ThePhenomenal1 Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Umesh Shami Zaheer Ishant No other combo will be as good. Lineup: Dhawan, Vijay, Pujara, Kohli, Rahane, Rohit, Dhoni, (4 bowlers) Long tail but its our best shot. Our batsmen have to score the runs
kruiser Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Umesh Shami Zaheer Ishant No other combo will be as good. Our batsmen have to score the runs I will replace Rahane with Ashwin - play him as a specialist batsman who can turn his arm over if needed :--D
veer Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 I will replace Rahane with Ashwin - play him as a specialist batsman who can turn his arm over if needed :--D Either that or replace him with Jaddu.. I trust Ashwin more with bat than ball..
vishalvirsingh Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 I am seeing that all of you think of an ideal team..... But also share what Dhoni wud Select....... Dhoni selects as per his preferences ...he takes calls thru his gut u know So though u guys r sharing that it would be a 4 pronged pace attack with BK missing out But I believe it wud be a 3 pronged pace attack with ashwin or Ojha as the spinner. What do u think Dhoni will Take...if india play 6 batters And a 4 pronged pace attAck then I think India wud fight it out well N take full advantage of the bouncy track.....
veer Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 ^^Dhoni's selection would be Jaddu or Ashwin + 4 Pacers Corrected..
vishalvirsingh Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 No chance of dhoni selecting 4 pacers and 2 spinners
ganeshran Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 While Dhoni's defensive field placings are poor and his excessive reliance on part timers makes no sense at all, he has probably picked all combinations of potential seamers. Most have the same story, lots of promise at first and then just fade out. This has nothing to do with selection, giving the right overs , confidence or captaincy. Our bowlers are just poor and lack in skill to adapt at the highest stage. The only one who held form for a sustained period was Zak and he helped us reach the #1 ranking.

That's because they aren't supported or helped by proper bowling coaches. Wouldn't be hard for someone in the management team to approach Ishant and get his issues fixed. Its bad management. What makes us different to Pakistan who produce all these exciting, fast bowlers? Sure isn't the water. It's how they are managed, which includes diet as well.

Lot of bowlers have been like that and they become good as they play more. You need to identify these guys who you play consistently even they are doing well or bad. They wont improve without playing. Indian domestic cricket alone wont make them world class.
