Why freebies get doled out, election manifestoes tend to concentrate specificially on this group? Look at AAP's latest election manifesto - there is an entire section dedicated to these 15% of population. In kerala, despite muslims making up more than 25% of the population, in some districts as high as 60%, there are reservations specifically for them. Why? Same reason as Rahul asking for reservation in private sector now ie Chutiagiri. Its the political parties that throw freebies at people before elections. They have been given so many benefits compared to other members of Indian society, and yet they are still backward and have shown relatively poor progress. There is something inherently wrong there. Today, when the idea of development is cutting across castes, and yet Muslims are still gonna vote for whose who have always taken them for granted. They are simply used to free gifts and will vote for them again despite not actually helping them in reality. The idea that they are voting to stop certain from winning is a terrible thinking.
