rkt.india
Purse that is deducted from salary cap does not mean teams are forced to play that exact amount to players. They can make their own contracts. Like for Vohra, Punjab is deducted 4 crores, but they do not have 4 crores to him. That is just cap deduction. zakk
Johnson right now is in the form of his life, a brilliant fielder and useful batsman. Malinga has been struggling and is out of shape!! The only reason to pick Malinga over Johnson must be sentimental. Malinga is best ipl bowler and have performed well for MI every time so MI management have taken good decision by retaining him :hatsoff:

Switchblade
Zaheer Khan, Vinay Kumar in RCB's wish-list http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/ipl/news/Zaheer-Khan-Vinay-Kumar-in-RCBs-wish-list/articleshow/28904663.cms NEW DELHI: After retaining Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are thinking about retaining a pacer as well - either Vinay Kumar or Zaheer Khan. The team may exercise the 'right-to-match' option, which allows a team to buy back a player. Sources said that both the pacers are in RCB's wish-list for the season, but the team is still weighing its options. However, if RCB use their only right-to-match option to retain Vinay Kumar, the team may be still tempted to bid for Zaheer at the IPL auction. Sources said Zaheer, who is a senior bowler and spearheads the Indian Test attack, could also be given the role of mentor for bowlers if he stays on with RCB. The franchisee already has a bowling coach in South Africa's Allan Donald. "It's still early to talk about it, but RCB certainly have these two pacers on their radar," an insider revealed. Soorma_Bhopali
My updated Dream Delhi Daredevils XI targets for each position from the available auction pool: 1. David Warner /Alex Hales /Virender Sehwag ( Max. budget : 8 crores) 2. Quinton Decock (W/k) /Aaron Finch/Jacques Kallis ( Max. budget : 8 crores) 3. Cheteshwar Pujara /Vijay Zol /Unmukt Chand ( Max. budget : 2 crore) 4. Kevin Pietersen /Glenn Maxwell/Ross Taylor ( Max. budget : 4 crore) 5. Yuvraj Singh/Manoj Tiwari ( Max. budget : 4 crore) 6. Dinesh Karthick/Manvinder Bisla/CM Gautam( Max. budget : 2 crore) 7. Parvez Rasool/Irfan Pathan/Rishi Dhawan/Rajat Bhatia/Thisara Perera/Azhar Mahmood /Darren Sammy ( Max. budget : 3 crore) 8. Amit Mishra/Shahbaz Nadeem/Sachitra Senanayeke( Max. budget : 1 crore) 9. Mitchell Johnson/Morne Morkel/Adam Milne/Trent Boult( Max. budget : 3 crore) 10. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar/Parvinder Awana/Ishwar Pandey/Pradeep Sangwan( Max. budget : 2 crore) 11. Umesh Yadav/Varun Aaron/Mohammed Shami( Max. budget : 3 crore) My Auction strategy would be to use up 40 crores for the first XI players and rest 20 crores for the second XI/backup players , in case any of the first choice are unavailable due to national duty/injury.I have also tried to have foreign/overseas players distributed and not from one particular Country to cover adequate risks so that the squad is not weakened if say any countries players are unavailable due to tours/national duties. I think max investment should be done on good 11 to 13 players as they can play all matches :nervous:

This correction of the demand-supply situation coupled with MI/CSK and RCB having little maneuvring in very less available purse would mean they can only go for max 1-1.5 crore for marquee players. rkt.india
One more thing regarding salary cap of 39 crores for retention of 5 players like CSK, MI and RR did. Franchises are not forced to pay rupees 39 crores to these 5 players who are retained. It is franchises prerogative to pay and negotiate with these players according to the last contract they had. You cannot go behind every player. They need to eye some particular player who they will buy even if bid goes high likes of KP, Warner, and Finch and then there are some players they can buy who are good but might not get high bids like Hales, Butler, Lumb, Lynn, Dunk, etc.
