renjith Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 why not both?We have two vacant spots in Rayudu and Pujara i would prefer samson playing 2 more ranji seasons before playing for india. let him play in a-team as well for overseas exposure. i really wanted to see him play in 4 day matches in aus. but they didn;t pick him in 4-day team. that can only be a true indicator of where he stands now. for now rayudu/tiwary/kedhar yadav all good to be in no: 4-5 position in odis.

In ODIs we need Samson samson is not just an odi material. he is a real deal as a batsman. if we rush him into odi team at a very young age, he may loss it. better to let him play few more first class sessions and develop as a better batsman.

Maybe Samson can just be in squad as a backup for now,but surely needs a look in.
