BlueBee Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 How good would India be outside of the subcontinent if they had a good pace attack? The problem has been the same for years. Even as India climbed to the top of the ICC test rankings in November 2009, and even as they managed to stay there for the next 21 months before being dethroned by England, it was there, hovering, like a dark cloud. Quite a number of experts mentioned it, and it was clear to distant observers -- and to homebound ones not blinded by patriotism -- that as good as the other parts worked, the malfunctioning part would eventually compromise the whole. India's Fast Bowler's Must Step Up Their Game
Ultimate_Game Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Our bowling is pants When someone like Southee can hammer our "specialist" bowlers, when our fast bowlers can't even land one yorker on the stumps against tailenders and when opponent's tail not only manages to survive but thrive against our bowling, you know something is seriously wrong. I can't see how we can be competitive in the WC next year. Our bowling sucks big time with our bowlers conceding 300 or thereabouts every game no matter the pitch or venue. Be it India, NZ, SA or Aus we concede 300+ without fail everywhere and I can't see us chasing these high totals consistently.
The Outsider Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 But we've got multi cup winning and taking test team to number 1 kaptaan. These are minor problems. Dhoni is going to win us the next WC like he won the previous one.

Don't blame the bowlers, it was clearly Dhoni's strategy that bowler's ball short. He moved 3 fielders to the leg. Maybe they thought of this strategy because they thought straight boundaries were too short. But there is a reason both BK and Shammi, who bowled so many yorkers last match didn't even try them this game
FischerTal Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 come on, it was retard-in-chief's strategy to make bowlers bowl short. in fact, he didnt even give one over to aaron who bowls inswinging yorkers quite easily. change the captain, the mindset of bowlers will change with an aggressive captain
CSK Fan Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Just confirmed in the post match session by Agarkar, because of shorter boundaries plan was to bowl short
Ultimate_Game Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Defend the bowlers all you want but when we consistently chase 300+ be it SA, NZ, India there's something fundamentally broken. When bowlers lack basic skills of bowling yorkers against tailenders, you don't really have much hope.
jf1gp_1 Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 these new rules are killing almost every one. Not as if NZ bowlers are doing any better.
Number Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Nothing wrong with bowling, batsmen should take more responsibility.

Why would a bowler bowl yorker when captain asks him not to and puts 3 fielders on the leg? And when the same problem is happening again and again with the same captain, no matter who the bowler is, then there is only so long you can blame the bowlers How did BK go from being a wicket taking bowler to a containing bowler in a few matches? Why did Shammi not attempt yorkers in the last few overs? Watch Shammi also become a containing bowler very soon Put everyone on the leg boundary. ask them to bowl short and then blame bowlers for not bowling yorkers? Yeah right.

Why would a bowler bowl yorker when captain asks him not to and puts 3 fielders on the leg? I did see Shami's attempts at yorkers with ball dispatched in the stands. When your yorkers end up as knee high full tosses it becomes a case of "naach na jaane angan teda".

Did you watch how even tailenders were trying to scoop a yorker ? boundary was just 45m from that end, sami did bowl a few, he was just having a bad day almost all were misdirected

When your yorkers end up as knee high full tosses it becomes a case of "naach na jaane angan teda". Not in the last few overs, he didn't. And Shammi had a rare off day, he is deadly accurate with yorkers. So was BK in the last match but he did not bowl a single one today. Clearly the plan was to bowl shorter

Or the missed scoops would have been bowled. They were not yorkers

rkt.india Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Look at how Australian bowlers thrashed yesterday at World's fastest pitch and that too by Poms. :winky:

jf1gp_1 Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Look at how Australian bowlers yesterday at World's fastest pitch and that too by Poms. :winky: i think we will reach the target in 43-44 overs.
Ultimate_Game Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Look at how Australian bowlers yesterday at World's fastest pitch and that too by Poms. :winky: Bud it's one thing being taken for runs occasionally and that too after you have won the Tests 5-0 and have won the odi series 3-0. In India's case I can't recall when our bowlers managed to limit the opposing team to a below par or even a par score.
