rkt.india Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 are you kidding? Akram's action was a joy to watch. No it wasn't. He had an ungainly action. He himself admitted in masterclass. He didn't have a real loadup, just running and deliver the ball, no real jump forward.
tweaker Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Akram had a good runup. He had a very different runup
BlueBee Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 Akram had a weird run up IMO. But a great bowler, I must say
Pagalpanti Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Shocking figures, I don't see us even qualifying for semis if this filth continues... The downfall started with the Aus series  Mind you though, these figures inflate further if you remove that WI series.
rkt.india Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 We are not taking enough wickets. In ODI cricket, now containment is only possible with wickets. We need to try to pick up regular wickets, otherwise, we will see same fate everywhere.

We need try to pick regular wickets, otherwise, we will see same fate everywhere.[/quote'] Corey Anderson made the difference in the first 3 games. He picked 10 wickets in the middle overs. Our spinners will always find it difficult to pick wickets in middle overs in these conditions. Its easy to nudge the spinner around for 4 or 5 runs an over and score the occasional boundary. We don't have a good seamer all rounder who could do the job. Shami picked 10 wickets but he was expensive and many of his wickets were in death where batsmen were going after him and not of wickets which broke partnerships. Southee got 8 and McLenaghan - 5. B Kumar, Aaron, Ishant couldn't deliver breakthroughs though B Kumar was decent in terms of economy rate. I agree with you that our seamers need to pick wickets at regular intervals to contain the opposition here.

Its just been a disaster post that.
rkt.india Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Not sure what happened' date=' our bowling seemed so good during CT and Tri series. Its just been a disaster post that.[/quote'] One thing in CT was wickets up front by pacers were backed by spinners in middle overs. Here even if we pick wickets in first 10-12 overs, like we did today though gave a few runs too many but openers were out around 60 and in the first match too, but spinners have not had the impact they should have. They were economical today, but we needed wickets, needed to break KW and Ross partnership early.

shortbread Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Shami and Aaron bowled like club cricketers!!! So many bad balls, short, wide!!! I dont understand why they cant stick to a channel?! 3 overs in and I was like bring the spinners or else we will loose the game. Aaron got an early wicket but that was a poor shot, but otherwise the batsmen just had to wait for the bad balls!! We need better pacers or these guys need to step up. None of them seem to take ownership or act like they know what they are doing, just go with the flow and see what happens. Nobody has any faith in this present lot Ishanth, aaron, BK, Shami, Yadav......not the captain, the coach, the whole country, not themselves even. I don't see them set a field, ask for a change, even the body language looks meek!!! Any team that is fortunate to bat 2nd against India can win the game, there is a guaranteed boundary ball every over. Its just depressing!!
Ultimate_Game Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Same old story as usual. Pacers are all ove the shop and gifted freebies to NZ batsmen. Every over had a couple of boundary balls with our pacers bowling on the leg or being short & wide. Anyone who wants to know the real difference in the match watch the first 10 overs when NZ bowled and the first 10 overs when we bowled. It was like night and day. NZ pacers were spot on with not even one gimme whereas we leaked 10 4s and a 6 in our first 7-8 overs!!! I'm sorry but we currently have the worst pace bowling in intl cricket and even some of the associate nations like Ireland and Afghanistan would actually be better at fast bowling than us.
Marut Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Pacers ideally need to take 8 wickets and spinners 2 wickets to wrap up matches outside the SC. Our pacers picked 2 wickets and spinners nought. Spinners were at least tight, and Ashwin kept it very tight even in the two powerplay overs he bowled - effectively conceding just 3 runs off 2 overs. (barring that overthrow that went for four). Pacers neither took the wickets nor contained runs at any point in the game.

kubrickian Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Mohammad Shami is the only decent pacer in this side. He lacks the height required to extract bounce from these surfaces but he has decent pace, bowls a good line and length and can swing the ball both ways. He has looked tired off late and needs to be given a break. The management has to take care of this lad and makes sure he doesn't get overworked. Pretty much all other bowlers suck and won't do a decent enough job. Even B Kumar doesn't have pace or the height or the fitness to sustain a good performance over a period of time. Ishant, Varun Aaron are wayward and will be easy pickings even though the latter has to be given more chances. Fact of the matter is our fast bowling cupboard is bare. In ODIs, our batsmen have to compensate and score loads of runs. In tests, we just don't have the resources to pick 20 wickets in these conditions.
Lord Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Effectively teams play only 1 spinner overseas and pacers are not taken off after they just have taken wickets and are given longer spells than 2 overs with new ball. those pacers are actually good and fitness is not issue.can't play 4 seamers for the sake of it.Lack of seam bowling allrounder is also a big issue
Ultimate_Game Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Effectively teams play only 1 spinner overseas and pacers are not taken off after they just have taken wickets and are given longer spells than 2 overs with new ball. Pray tell me who those 4 seamers are? Are you suggesting we get likes of Dinda and Vinny Kooomar back? We don't have half decent seamers and we shouldn't pick them just for the same of picking seamers. It's a struggle for us to even pick 2 decent spinners and you are suggesting we pick 4 :giggle:
rkt.india Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Pray tell me who those 4 seamers are? Are you suggesting we get likes of Dinda and Vinny Kooomar back? We don't have half decent seamers and we shouldn't pick them just for the same of picking seamers. It's a struggle for us to even pick 2 decent spinners and you are suggesting we pick 4 :giggle: Like spinners are winning us matches after matches overseas. Lets pick players who can be effective in these conditions. Pick side based on condition. Look, our captain has a defensive mindset. Only he can take two bowlers out of the attack straight away after taking 2 wickets in 2 consecutive overs and bowl them just 2 overs and bring 2 non-wicket taking spinners, one of them is averaging 190 in this series, in tandem which showed how defensive he is. Instead of trying to pick more wickets by keeping attacking field against 2 new batsmen, he brings spinners to stop contain. How are you going to win a match by this strategy. Our pacers are no Brett Lee or Glenn McGrath, but still pacers are the only ones who have been taking wickets in this series, might be expensive, but if you want to win, you need wickets. Try to get them out at 250 in 40 overs, rather than thinking we can stretch it to 50 overs and can stop them at 260, no, it will never happen in these conditions with new rules and 2 new balls. Ball never gets too old to be difficult to score off and good for spinners or to get reverse swing for pacers. You need to put pressure on a new batsman whenever, he comes in. We saw the same thing in SA. Miller comes in a new batsman, but Dhoni cannot put a slip because he does not think he needs to take wickets and two consecutive genuine edges gone begging for 4 through slips beating him for pace and what Miller ends up in the end 60 odd in 36 balls who could easily have been out on 5 if he had a slip. This is such a negative mindset. Negative mindset brings negative results and we are seeing them. Bowlers are as good as our captain's faith in you. A captain is as good as his bowlers. Both statements are proportionally right. If you do not take wickets, whoever the bowler is will be thrashed to all parts of the ground in end overs by set batsmen. Why should I blame pacers when they are not given overs at the right time, they are taken off at the wrong time and are not used to pick up wickets but to bowl in batting PPs and slog overs to be slaughtered like lambs by set batsmen.
rkt.india Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 those pacers are actually good and fitness is not issue.can't play 4 seamers for the sake of it.Lack of seam bowling allrounder is also a big issue O bhai giving 2 random over spell, 1-over spell will lead to more injuries than bowling 4-5 overs on the trot. 4-5 overs are not too many. You need to give them a spell.
