Delhi Daredevils trim squad to 20 players http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/63048/delhi-daredevils-trim-squad-to-20-players With the squad already reeling in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a string of losses, the Delhi Daredevils have decided to temporarily trim their Indian Premier League squad of 23 players to 20. The team management has decided to send home three domestic uncapped players, according the PTI. The three domestic uncapped players include Delhi-lad Milind Kumar, Haryana off-spinner Jayant Yadav and young Karnataka medium pacer HS Sharath. "Milind, Sharath and Jayant have gone home for the time being. If they are required they would be called back by the franchise. Sending back a few players in the middle of the tournament has been a common practice among the IPL franchise for the past few years," an IPL source in the know of things told PTI. With Milind, the distant but only local connect that the franchise had, is not there anymore. The possibility of Delhi Daredevils recalling the trio is nigh impossible with the side already finding themselves fighting for the wooden spoon. For Jayant, it was also a tough road as he was the third specialist spinner after Shahbaz Nadeem and Rahul Sharma. Also, with JP Duminy being considered as more than capable off-break bowler, there was very little possibility of Jayant making it to the squad on the back of his bowling. Similarly for HS Sharath, the lanky Karnataka lad is also way down the pecking order. With Jaydev Unadkat and Mohammed Shami being the two frontline Indian pacers, even Rahul Shukla of Jharkhand and Siddharth Kaul of Punjab are ahead of Sharath. Add to that the presence of New Zealander Jimmy Neesham. Meanwhile, South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir's visa process is getting delayed and it is still not certain whether his services can even be sought for the match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday, May 7. Tahir has been talked about replacing injured pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile

Kedar Jadhav laments DD's all-round failure http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/63041/kedar-jadhav-laments-dds-all-round-failure Delhi Daredevils batsman Kedar Jadhav feels his team needs to post bigger scores and take wickets upfront to get their floundering campaign back on track in the Indian Premier League. "We are not getting enough wickets with the new ball. Talking about the match, I think we were 20-30 runs short. We had to setup an attacking field as the score was less and the bowlers ended up giving runs," said Jadhav after Daredevils lost to the Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets after putting up 152 for five on board. The Delhi team, second from bottom in the points table with two wins from six games, is relying on its home games at the Ferozshah Kotla to make a comeback in the tournament. They face the Chennai Super Kings on Monday. Asked about how the wicket played in the opening game at Ferozshah Kotla, Jadhav said: "It was comfortable to play the fast bowlers but the spinners were getting a lot of grip from the surface. The bounce was also okay." On what he thinks about the match against Chennai Super Kings on Monday, Jadhav said, "They are surely a better team on paper but it will be about who plays better on the day." Star players like skipper Kevin Pietersen not finding form and lack of an extra specialist spinner is also adding to the team's woes. "Pietersen will take some more time to get into the groove as he is returning from an injury. And I have heard leggie Imran Tahir is coming, it should be good for us. But as I said earlier, if there are not enough runs on the board, it will be tough for most spinners unless you are a Shane Warne or Sunil Narine." Jadhav's 14-ball 28 at number six helped Daredevils get past 150 on Saturday. It was only his second game of the tournament. Asked whether he would like to bat up the order, Jadhav said: "It is always better if you get to spend more time in the middle but I can't ask the coach for much when you have big international names like Pietersen, JP Duminy and Dinesh Karthik in the line-up." Jadhav praised the role of World Cup winning coach Gary Kirsten. "He is giving equal time to each player, sharing his valuable insights. It is up to the players now to go out there and perform," he concluded.
