Australia firm favourites for WC2015 if Johson continues this form.

Oz are favs' date=' but not just because of MJ. They can draft in Harris only for the ODIs, and have MJ and Clint McKay (ODI specialist) forming a fine trio. Then, there's Watto who is superb in ODIs and utility players like Faulkner and Maxwell. They will bat till 9 and go with 6 bowlers too.[/quote'] Harris wouldn't play ODIs. The bowling attack will be Johnson, Starc, Pattinson, Bird, Coutler-Nile, Faulkner, Watson, Doherty/Muirhead, Maxwell, Christian and so on. Batting wise: Warner, Marsh, Finch, White, Bailey, Clarke (imo shouldn't play), Watson, Smith, Maxwell, Hughes, Voges, Haddin and Wade. Australia just have so much depth in ODI cricket.

Yes, I am aware that Harris doesn't. But, despite the bowling depth, I'd like to see him turn out for this one tournament. Statistically, he is the best ODI bowler in the world right now. The Rhino has it all - subtle variations, pace, seam, swing and control. But, I agree with the rest of what you said - superb strength. Clarke should play though - can really stabilize an innings better than most, esp given all the quick scorers. Warner/Finch, Watto, Clarke, Bailey, Voges, Wade, Maxwell, Faulkner, Mitch, McKay, ? Batting till 10 and 6 bowlers.

Clarke shouldn't play ODI to prolong his test career. My team would be Warner, Finch, Marsh, Bailey, Smith, Haddin, Maxwell, Faulkner, Johnson, Pattinson, Doherty.

Smith has improved a lot, but is he good enough as a frontline bat? Is Haddin playing in ODIs? I'd pick Voges over Smith - both can bowl a bit, and Voges is a fine finisher.

Finch, Watto, Clarke, Bailey, Voges/Warner, Wade, Maxwell, Faulkner, Mitch, McKay, Doherty Warner doesn't have all that great a ODI record, but he's improved a lot. Depending on pitch and opposition, I'd choose between Voges and Warner. If former plays, he can anchor middle order and contribute some spin. If latter plays, he can open with Finch and Watto moves one down.

That's thing, you have so many great choices. I mean you can have Hughes, Marsh or Watson bat in the top 3, you can have Voges and Cam White in the middle order.

Warner Finch Watson Clarke Bailey Maxwell Haddin Faulkner Johnson McKay Doherty/Muirhead Reserves: S.Marsh, Christian, NCN, Starc, Smith/Voges/White

Watson will play, certain!

Scored two tons at strike rate of 85+, only one duck and his OD record is 7 tons at an average of 46. He is a great player. Australia has amazing depth in both batting and bowling for ODIs Test though keeper wise we are stuffed if we lose Haddin and if we lose Lyon we are stuffed, if we lose Clarke we are purely ****ed.

I think the 7 tons, etc is the List A record. Hughes started off brilliantly in Tests, but what people failed to notice is that he also enjoyed a prolific run early in his ODI career, scoring 2 centuries in the process. Take his last 5-10 matches and I'll wager he's been terrible. Given the batting depth Oz possess in ODIs, they certainlt don't need Hughes. His SR is also pretty low for the current fast paced game. If they need an anchor Clarke can do it better. Anyway, I think we're both of the same opinion that Oz has plenty of depth are are favs for the title.

Oh Hughes can play the ODI side but there are more I prefer than him in the ODI side but he is a great player to have on the bench like Cameron White. His strike rate is decent but he had to take the slower option when you have Finch and Warner at the other end, it is how you do it to stabilize it. List A = OD ODI is different as you can tell.

Averages mean squat in ODI's. Hughes had a S/R in the 70-80 range in the Indian series where 350 was chased regularly. He left way too much for Bailey. That is not smart and I am so glad he is nowhere near the ODI side. Early on Hughes is hopeless at hitting boundaries and that is an issue as we only have 15 overs of powerplays.
