Hmm, I don't know. That's true to some extent in 2011 as Yuvi took critical wickets in the final, but he did get bowled out for a golden duck in the semi-final. Without Sachin and Raina's contributions India would not have gotten to the final. In 2007 Yuvi played an absolutely critical role in turning India's tournament around with those six sixes and then that awesome 30-ball 70 against Australia in the semi-final. But then he failed in the final. In fact one could argue that in some ways, Yuvi has been similar to Sachin in world tournaments: playing key roles in getting India to the final stages but then fizzling out a little. Not choking because he took key wickets in 2011. As for Dhoni he has been an almost complete washout in world tournaments but that 91* will always make up for all the other failures. End of the day to play a starring role in a World Cup final is the dream of every cricketer. Kohli did top score in the CT final but at this point, he needs to do a lot more to enter the conversation.

When i meant uniform distribution, ie Sachin has always brought his A game to world cups. 1996 (semis) 2003 (finals) and 2011 were when Sachin heavily scored runs for India and was the highest run getter for the side. So your talking about being a major contributor through decades. 90s 00s and early 10s. Yuvraj singh though IMO provided something to India in our victories. A real allrounder. I think he was the second highest wicket taker for india in 2011. This would be my all time Indian ODI team over 40 odd years for playing the format. Sachin Sehwag Ganguly Kohli Yuvraj Dhoni Kapil Dev Zaheer Bhajji Kumble Srinath with M Amarnath, Binny Sr, Vengsarkar and Gambhir making up the squad. With honourable mentions to Bedi and Sindhu.

I personally rate Dhoni higher than sachin as an ODI player for India. We have to keep in mind that he is an allrounder while Sachin was not. The real question should be, who is the second best limited overs keeper for India through time. Nayan Mongia, Kiran More, Kirmani Engineer DK? Who is the second best batsman for India in the ODIs or even opener. Ganguly Virat (might become greatest)?? There is a big difference between, the remaining keepers of India and MSD. In all formats. I suspect Saha will be a better bet overseas but its a non contest in limited overs at the moment. As far as big tournaments go, Yuvraj >>> Sachin >>>> Dhoni. Sachin has a uniform contribution in WC's and champions trophies. But Yuvi has ensured that India has won. MSD has just one defining innings to his name. Even Virat Kohli leaving aside this T20 WC (in which may he continue to pound attacks) has had a so so record in big tournaments.

The WC is the biggest tournament in World Cricket and and in that tournament he has been, without a doubt, India's best performer overall.

Help me understand this-Dhoni has had some humiliating losses and some epic wins....which says that he is a victim or at times a victor of circumstance no? So how does that make him awesome or a great leader in K.O games? Please explain Sir....You definetely see something legendary in Dhoni that a lot of us fail to see

Coming back to this thread, If India do lift the cup then we indeed do have the say that for whatever reason India via luck, mental toughness or ability are the side to beat if they reach the final stages of a world event. Its sort of why i feel WC 2015 India might surprise as its just 3 games QF-Semi-Final India have to win in order to lift the cup.
