Pakistan were definitely better till 2000 ...they were easily the better of two sides in era of late 70s to late 90s ....post 2000 very few test matches played between the two but India had edge with better batting line up and an average bowling side in SC pitches. In ODI India and Pakistan were pretty equal post 2000 with India getting better as Dhoni took over in past 7 years.

Due to sharjah matches. Remove them and you will see that the performance of India was improved. I would say Pakistan better than India in tests and slightly better than India in ODIs till 2000, if you exclude Sharjah matches.

Haha, Pak fans are doing exactly the same though. At the end of the day what counts is : 1)Pakistan have a better HTH record. Cool. Accepted. 2)India won test series in every country before Pakistan did and have won series in more countries. 3)India won all major trophies before Pakistan, some which Pakistan have not managed till date. It's 5-2 in the major trophy count. Big difference. But no, let's use pakaupisson logic and make it a debate of pre 2003 and post 2003.

I'm a Pakistani but not shy of admitting it. Pak used to be the better team until around 2000 and not since then. Now the India is a better team and the gap between the two is slowly getting wider by year. Lack of International cricket and stupidity of selectors and administration is taking its toll. India have been better in ICC events because of flat pitches ... take those out and Pakistan edges India ... not by a whole lot but enough.

Pitches don't matter to Pakistan, they just make every pitch look like a minefield. Excuses galore here. I suppose when your team's trophy cabinet is so bare you have to resort to such garbage. Were pakistani umpires umpiring 87 series in India? Were there pakistani umpires in 99 Madras and Eden Gardens? Were there pakistani umpires in Banglore 05? Fact is we won the series in Ind 87. Won two tests in 99 and drew in 05. As for our ODI H2H our best came on Indian soil with Indian umpires. Coming to the OP. We were both rubbish till 70s. Both had their moments in 80s. We were better in 90s. Winning 3 back to back series in Eng won few times in NZ and drew in SA whilst you had that embarrassing record of one win overseas in something like 15 years. In 2000s you were clearly better in both forms. As of now you are slightly better in tests and way ahead in ODIs. Sharamnaak signature.

Agree Let me tell u as I have seen and played and watched cricket among most countries, in Asia Pakistan are more talented in terms of pace, general physiology and although had a few good batters in the past , their batting since last 10 or more years has been shambles with no good talent coming thru in test cricket. Indians have a good eye and hand eye co ordination and earlier were negative in their approach and bowling in terms of seam was poor, now they are a superior side but hampered by poor captain and very poor administration and selections in last 5 years. India Pakistan games are not that much fun now.
