Rahane.. Not a T20 player

I don't particularly favor Dhawan. I want an aggressive opener to partner Pujara. He is aggressive and a left hander which is a massive asset to have in ODIs. If that's not the case, we could open with a moderate (mindset) player like Gambhir and Pujara, but need a squash buckling tonker at #4 with Dhoni at #5.
Agressive yes.. but blind slogger hell no..

Gambhir can be mighty aggressive. Look no further than him. Poor guy has been dealt an unfair hand.

stable opening...32(30) when we were chasing 170+ in 20 overs ...oh wait...And how many times did he give us stable opening ? if he cannot perform under pressure he isn't good enough to be in playing XI ...and avg of 10 is not at all acceptable. And the game against srilanka in asia cup it wasn't even a collapse...AFAIK he came at arnd 130/2 ...still... Not to mention the game against pak even rayudu looked better than him
Anyone would take 32(30) instead of 10(8).. Btw.. Dhawan was dropped in NZ games later on and also in T20 WC cuz of repeated failure. Isnt it obvious that he is not reliable.. Anyways. lets stick with Dhawan and see how it turns out.. he will succeed in 1 out of 5 games in foreign conditions.. you can bet on that.

The guy has no stroke making ability. No power whatsover. Looked like a deer caught in the headlights.
Another Fawad Alam type guy. But looks good in tests.

I want someone who will be able to clear the ropes at his will. I would say even Kohli is not in the league of berserk hitters. We are very lucky to have a classy batsman who will score with a SR over 100. But still even Kohli is not the typical Sehwag kind of guy who can make the ball fly from the first over onwards. What hurts me more is' date=' nowadays almost every team has a hitter at the opening slot. I accept most of those hitters are not consistent but 45/1 after 5 overs is better for me than 45/0 after 10 overs and occasionally with such hitters we can even get 90/1 at the end of 10th over which means we have already pocketed the match.[/quote'] Missing Sehwag buddy.

Yeah right. Someone else scored the runs for him in IPL and CLT20.
What's his SR in IPL? Ganguly also scored close to 500 runs in one of the IPLs he played, but did they matter, no because SR was 109. His runs only good till they have Watson and Hodge to bash.

Dont know why Dhawan is being rated so high when he is failing innings after innings..
Kahan fail hua bhai. Scored runs in Asia cup, scored against NZ in test series. Few T20s failure does not mean much. T20 can make even best look hack when they are out of form. It is the worst format to judge a batsman. Judge him based on what he did in last test series.

NZ test he got couple of lives.... we failed in SA and NZ cuz openers didnt click. he is technically weak.. we can find a better opener...

We failed because our bowling was poor. How many batsmen have scored consistently on their first big overseas tours. He did well in NZ tests. There is not better opener than him right now in India. Lives are part and parcel of the game. Sehwag's most innings had multiple lives. His 300 at Multan wouldn't have been possible without half a dozen drops. You cannot change players after every series and teams are not build like this.

I :agree: we have loads of talent in our country like Uthappa, Gauti, Sehwag etc... but cannot deny Rahane's talent too... He is definitely not a slogger but a good batting talent for sure... In this WC-T20 how can u expect a guy who has been in and out of team so many times, Who is struggling to get a permanent position in the squad, U are making him play in just 2 matches, with both of them knock-outs... There is so much pressure, I tell u... Opening an innings in finals of world cup for ur country... If he gets even half of opportunities that Nohit got, He can proove his point too...

They are made for tests. Why cant people follow horses for courses strategy. However good yourbtechnique is, you need power to play t20. These guys just dobt have it.

Not really bothered if he is or not. Apart from t20 world cup, other international t20s are meaningless and not very frequent Important player for us in next couple of years in tests and I would say odis
