Mr. Wicket
Bichel would walk into any team in the world if he wasn't Australia. It's a shame he has played as little as he has, because he truly is one of the finest players you could ask for in any situation of adversity or high pressure. Link to comment
Donny
It must be a good pitch for bowling. It's similar to the Gabba wicket, Ravi. Always some life early, especially if it's overcast as it was on the first morning when SL lost 6/81. Then, as is happening today, out came the sun and Prasanna Jayawardene, Vaas, Maharoof and Bandana added runs relatively easily. Today, we see Bic, Noffke and Johnson batting freely after the first hour when the SL bowlers were on top. 7/267. Bic 115* (6 sixes) Johnson 34* Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
Bic gets his 7th six, launching Bandara out of the ground. Out for 125 trying to repeat it. So he's only done a bit more than double the score put up by the SL top 6. BTW, I see Johnson's also among the runs - 42 not out now. Link to comment
Donny
50 up for MJ. 69 balls. 8/294. A lead of 84. Link to comment
Ram
It is quite amazing to see the number one choice Aussie bowlers being absolutely hammered in the previous FC match , while the second rung of contenders are doing quite well. It will be interesting to see how MJ bowls in the 2nd innings. Link to comment
Donny
Day 2: Queensland scored 295. Andy Bichel 125. Mitchell Johnson 50. Farveez Maharoof took 3/72. SL is 4/55 nearing stumps. Still 30 runs behind. Noffke has 2/8. Bic and Kaspa have 1 wicket each. Link to comment

Holysmoke
Not quite the case' date=' mm. The Aussies' #1 bowler, Stuart Clark, took 7 wickets in the match you mentioned.[/quote'] Would you call Clarke the #1 bowler(Leader of the attack), or would you give that honor to Lee.. Link to comment
Donny
I just did. I don't hold much with the terms, 'spearhead, 'leader of the attack' or '#1 bowler' as a bowling attack is a team within a team but, if you want to go on stats, SC is way ahead. Stuart Clark: 9 Tests - 2.45 r.p.o. 47 wickets @ 17.8 Brett Lee: Last 9 Tests - 3.3 r.p.o. 34 @ 32.2 Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
Consider as well that Clark's wickets have all been coming very consistently in all conditions, from the flat deck at Adelaide last yr to the SAF greentops. Bung's only delivered against really crap opposition or on very helpful surfaces, as I've pointed out before. Clark = Test spearhead. Bung = Deserving of the 12th man position so Noffke or Hilf can play. Link to comment
Donny
Once again, Noffke (3/9) gets the early breakthrough. Silva out for 4. Link to comment
Donny
SL out for 226. The lead is 141. Chaminda Vaas scored 84 from 76 balls. Q: 1/36. Link to comment
Donny
5/53. 3/3 in 6 balls. Maharoof 3/23. Malinga 2/18. Link to comment

Mr. Wicket
Clinton Perren's batting beautifully by all accounts, 61 off 69 balls. QLD are 134/6, Noffke still hanging around on 14 not out. Link to comment
