adi B Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 In perhaps his strongest comments on the campaign trail yet, BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi hit out at Farooq Abdullah for saying that those voting for Modi should go jump in the sea. "If someone is to go drown, then go look at the face in a mirror. Put your father's picture in front of a mirror and ask with what face can those who have thrown out the Kashmiri Pandits talk about preventing regionalism," Modi said in a interview. "These words do not suit him. We are silent but it doesn't mean that you keep damaging the secularism that has prevailed in the country for thousands of years," he said. He said that it was the party's commitment to ensure that the benefit of development and progress reached people of all communities. "People like Farooq Abdullah making such statements will not derail our campaign," he said. He said that the party would never deviate from its stance on secularism and ensuring inclusive growth. Abdullah during a rally yesterday had taken a dig BJP leader Griraj Singh and VHP's Praveen Togadia, saying "They say those who do not vote for Modi should go to Pakistan. The BJP's prime ministerial candidate said that secularism is ingrained in the Indian ethos and it was not shaken by such statements. "If we are to consider the biggest damage to this secularism that has been there for thousands of years, it took place in Kashmir. And that too during the tenure when Farooq Abdullah's father was the chief minister," Modi said "Farooq Abdullahji it has taken place during your tenure as chief minister and during your son's tenure. Kashmir is the only state in the country where Pandits were removed purely on the basis of religion," he said http://www.firstpost.com/politics/modi-smacks-down-farooq-abdullah-if-someone-is-to-drown-look-in-a-mirror-1499871.html modi has gone full out on abdullah and his family, probably abdullah's previous comment tweaked his nerve or two. expecting NC and congress to rake up this issue and instil more fear mongering tactics

diga Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 nothing but politics ..ignore it. His own daughter's wedding became a political issue. http://archive.tehelka.com/story_main.asp?filename=Ne013004abdullah.asp The truth is stark and bitter. Farooq Abdullah sacrificed his daughter, Sarah, at the political altar. The reason why no member of the Abdullah clan was present for Sarah’s wedding with Sachin Pilot, son of the late Congress leader Rajesh Pilot, was because the National Conference (NC) was threatening to revolt and split if Farooq agreed to attend the wedding. Farooq buckled under pressure from his partymen who argued that the wedding would make it very tough for the NC to go to the people in the forthcoming parliamentary elections. A smear campaign on the Abdullah daughter marrying a kafir has already begun in the valley. Farooq has been under pressure since the party’s debacle in the assembly elections last year. The NC was trounced largely because his flamboyant, golf-playing playboy image stood out as much as his government’s non-performance. NC legislators were so agitated about the political implications of Sarah marrying a Hindu, it even came up for discussions at a party meeting. In the normal course, Farooq would have dismissed the arguments put forth by the legislators. He himself is married to a London-based Christian. His son and political inheritor, Omar, who is now NC President, is married to a Hindu. But that isn’t quite the same as Sarah marrying Sachin. “It is okay for men to marry out but Islam does not permit you to give your daughter to a non-Muslim,†one party legislator said. The secular Abdullah family that had, so far, never thought in terms of religion or caste in personal matters, put off the decision for a while and looked for alternatives. They tried to preach what they had never practised. They wanted Sarah and Sachin to get married quietly and live abroad for a few years. But that was an option the couple rejected. Also, there was never any question of Sachin converting to Islam. His family was all for the wedding. They were not weighing the consequences of what Sachin’s wedding to a Muslim would do to his political prospects in Rajasthan. The Abdullahs took the convenient route out. They did not want a revolt within the party. Nor did they want to give their opponents an additional issue in the general elections. “Kashmir has undergone a change since the insurgency. It is a whole lot more pan-Islamic from the time that Farooq and Omar got married,’’ a senior NC leader argued. The point is: the out-of-power Abdullahs were not even willing to test the ground on this one. They stayed away and have not dispelled the impression that they have disowned a family member. When contacted, Omar Abdullah said, “Yes, we were absent. You can infer whatever you want.†Sarah, let down by her own, went ahead and married the man she wanted to.
scorpio90 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 “It is okay for men to marry out but Islam does not permit you to give your daughter to a non-Muslim,” one party legislator said. Now this is quite interesting. So for them, it is a tool for long term population manipulation. LOVE JIHAD seems a part of this.
Number Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Omar Abdullah is actually a good administrator. Farooq got what he deserved from Modi.
