Averaging 20, SR of 46, good enough after bowling on flat tracks. According to last series even Shami does not deserve to be in test squad as he was poor in T20 WC, poor in IPL, not great in Asia Cup. Had average NZ and SA series too.

He had injury free full domestic season and was very good if averaging 20 with SR of 46 is not very good then what will be. He did not make impact? Even before his injury he had better start than most Indian pacers in ODIs. He has barely played 8 ODIs till now has a better SR and average than much celebrated BK. He wont even take place of BK. BK has his own place in test XI in England after Zak has got injured, he is a certainty. Fight is between Ishant, Umesh and Aaron for third place. Umesh has been off color all through out domestic season and whatever ODIs he played. Only in last IPL match, he showed a bit of improvement. Then there is Ishant who you know what will you get and then left Aaron. For me, it should be between Aaron and Umesh for the third pacer and whoever does well in practice matches there should get the node.

Whereas Shami will struggle to be even in the Delhi IPL team. The problem with all our pacers is consistency. After one year their form fluctuates with almost every series.

Shami was never a good T20 bowlers because he is an attacking bowler. Bhuvi has more patience. He does not try to bowl magic deliveries or try to find wickets on every ball and try different things rather keeps it simple which Shami, Umesh, and Aaron are lacking right now.
adi B Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 bowling with the red ball with slips,gully is completely different to lois.aaron can bowl well with the heavy ball and can be a good extractor of reverse swing.i am not too confident of yadav right now,he needs to bowl more and more to get back his rhythm b4 england tour.yadav is a confidence based bowler. in england bhuvi,shami,yadav will all get ample swing with the new ball,yadav,aaron,shami can get reverse with the old ball.all 4 are must,no zak,no pishant

IF' date=' he gets chances while still young[/quote'] he should play in england but you need different bowlers for different conditions at best he will keep things quiet when ball does not swing which is great if you have some one on other end like umesh or shami who can strike with older ball but if you play all guys like bk it wont work its more about balance of bowling line up rather than single individual..bhuvi and shami are must in my team but how you balance rest of attack aroung them is more important and we will play ishant and zaheer and struggle to pick wickets after 10 overs again

He can definitely learn to reverse it enough to trouble the batsmen as his yorkers are getting very accurate. I don't think someone with his skills should be limited to one role

I don't think someone with his skills should be limited to one role[/quote'] no some things you can learn and somethings you cannot death bowling was always going to come with experience and he increased the pace from 130 and 128 to 135 + it made huge difference and he can land yorkers but i do not see how he will reverse the ball with his action and yorkers are good for stoping runs he is not moving them they are not attacking option or even a option in tests..we need to distinguish the skills needed for both formats. he is just never going to be big danger with older ball even now he restricts runs at death bt has no real attacking option if batsmen want to they can easily keep playing him..and we saw that in odis this year only and this ipl is not gonna change that
Old guy Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 what you do not understand is every guy has limitations and bk is doing great in his own and has developed his skills very quickly and should be part of you side but he has one role and we need to select other bowlers to do different job he is going to do what philander did get wickets if there is swing in england and after that go for 2 rpo or 3 rpo and support steyn and morkel or who so ever else is playing we need balanced attack with bk its essential we select umesh who has some hope with older ball and if we select ishant who sucks with both new and old ball we deserve another white wash

How much did Mcgrath swing most times? Yes, you can and that will be his role overseas when ball does not swing but comparison with McGrath! Both are completely different bowlers. Mcgrath never swung the ball, depending on his immaculate control, seam movement and bounce. I want him improve his pace overtime because he knows the art of bowling. Bowling is not hurling the ball at batsman. If he improves his pace furthermore, it will help him become the bowler India, a complete bowler and not become a PK or Pathan.
