"ACP Pradyuman says that they are investigating the case carefully and yet they have no lead suspect." ACP Pradyuman emits a deep breath as he glanced out of the window at the reporter and the large crowd still gathered outside. "Don’t they have anything better to do in this city than hang around a crime scene all day?" "No sir," answered Inspector Fredricks. “There is that lame bowling alley." "My friend runs the bowling alley." "Oh yes sir! I’ve always loved the bowling alley! Fabulous...pins." "Will you just detail of the incident one more time, Freddy?" "Of course sir, We got a call from the mailman Kumar this morning, he said that he suspected something was wrong and that’s when we found the corpse of Mr. Richard in a freezer. Actually a frozen body would be great news for us. I mean, not GREAT news, may he rest in peace! Not that I'm sad to finally have somewhat difficult case to work on! I love my job and all..." "Get on with it Fredricks." "I just mean it might be helpful since the corpse is frozen, because it preserves the corpse and the evidence so well. But it’s unfortunate to not being able to find any evidence here. Dr.Salunkhe said that he was hit in the head with a blunt object, but other than that, there's not much we can tell. The killer was really careful because we found that nothing appears to be out of place in the house when we checked for clues. We've interviewed everyone in contact with him, his son Doran, his daughter Amanda, and of course, Kumar the mailman." "No Freddy I feel you’re missing something here. Let’s talk to everyone again." ACP Pradyuman said. "My father is the richest person in this stupid city! Anyone could have killed him for the sake of money, surely you don't think I did it!" said Doran Richard with a look of anger and annoyance. "We got along very well! I came over here last month to have dinner with him and he was really proud of me as I started my own business like he did years ago." "Didn't you start your business with a huge loan that your father gave you?" "Well, true. But that doesn't mean it was a walk in the park!" "How often did you visit him?" asked Senior Inspector Abhijeet. "Yeah, like once in a week or so. Or once every month. Sometimes like twice a year. Hey, we'd see each other very often, but he is such a loner. He always stays in the house, so it was me who had to make all the effort. If you ask me, I deserve a son-of-the-year award!" "I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE HE IS NO MORE!" wailed Amanda Richard through one of her fits of tears which only seemed to come while she was being investigated. "HE MEANT EVERYTHING TO ME!" "When was the last time you contact your father?" asked Senior Inspector Dhaya "Well, we talked on the phone last Saturday. But we haven’t met in a while." "And he didn't mention anything about being murdered soon?" Fredricks asked. ACP Pradyuman sighed. "Great work, Freddy." "Thanks sir!" "Um, no. He sounded fine," Amanda continued. "Look, it’s clear you're suspecting I had a motive to kill my dad, as I'll probably inherit a lot of his resources now, but I’m sure Doran will also get the same as me! Plus Doran owes/owed dad a huge sum of money which he borrowed to start his business. So he has a bigger motive than me! HE should be your suspect!" "Wow, what a lovely family this is. Let's see what Kumar has to say." "I'm used to his letters piling up in the box, as he never leaves his house, but every now and then I'll deliver a package for him. Since he does a lot of online shopping, he's keen to receive his packages, so when I have one he always answers the door!" Kumar insisted. "I know it's not much to go on, but when he didn't come to the door this morning, I just had a really bad feeling that something was wrong." "Have you observed any unusual things or activity lately? Anything suspicious?" "No, not that I can think of. Sorry" The ACP sat down with a sigh. "This is amazing. We have a reclusive victim who finds it too much to contact with anyone, no clues, lot of motives, no witnesses, and a lousy Inspector." "Sounds difficult, sir!" "It is, Freddy It is." The ACP was just going launch into a new stream of complaints, when a thought occurred to him. He stood up suddenly. "Wait! This might not hold up in court, but now I know who we should be looking into!" "You shouldn't end your sentences with a preposition, sir." "Freddy, I’ll demote you into a constable." "Sorry sir." "Someone said something very revealing. I feel that we will just be wrapping up this case sooner than later!" Who accidentally alerted ACP Pradyuman ? The murder case Case #7 A murder in the family"What!? What are you saying sir!?" Inspector Freddricks asked. "Kumar said Mr. Richard's letters often piles up as he rarely left his house, right?" "Yeah." "And the last time we have a confirmed contact with Richard was when Amanda contacted him on the phone last Saturday. And the body is frozen. His condition was such that, it's difficult to find if he's been in there for hours, days, or weeks. When was this man killed?" ACP asked Freddy with a stern look. "Ah how do I know that sir!? May be, Between last Saturday and this morning, when the mailman found the corpse." "Correct. After all the investigations we know this case more than anyone else, and that should probably be the time of death we can come up with..." and Freddy had no idea what ACP Pradyuman is talking about. We have a lead suspect. Do you remember what you reported earlier this evening? That the town's affluent person was found dead late last night?" "Of course." "How late?" "Well...Oh. Rats." "Rats indeed. The last time anyone had any contact with Mr. Richard that we know of was last Saturday, and the time of his death is impossible to determine due to Mr. Richard's body being preserved in the freezer and his tendency to let his mail pile up. So the best estimate we have for the time of the murder is some time between Saturday and this morning when the body was found. But somehow you've determined a much more specific time of death. When I heard you say that...well, a little while after I heard you say that, I realized that either you or your source knows way more than an innocent person should. And now you've told me that it's you! You might as well confess, because let's face it, this story has gone on long enough already." "Alright, fine. He always stays in the house, so it was me who had to make all the effort. the mail man says he was used to seeing many letters piling up in the box as the victim never leaves his house but his son say he used to visit him once in a week so if the son`s statement is true how or why mails were not removed the victims has to open his front door every time to let his son inside so son is lying

It is the only thing in the whole story which is wrong... The mailman found body in the morning.. why did reporter say that he was found dead last night... Maybe reporter killed the man :(( Sorry man... Tough one!!!

Two things 1) When mailman reported something suspicious, Inspector went and broke into the house, searched the house even in freezer which is not something you do unless you know it before, so he knew of the murder and body is in freezer. 2) Mistakenly he gave a wrong news to reporter that he was killed late last evening which proves he is the killer Reason could be he is having an afair with Amanda and wants full share of Richard's property, and Amamnda is upset that ihs father is giving big loan to her brother, so they got him killed..Use this to put Doran behind the bar..One stone two birds :--D

sachinrox Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Firstly, it is totally possible that a murder was committed last night and the fact was out in public/ known only the next morning. But what I found amazing was, if the mailman didn't receive a feedback to the doorbell, he should have inquired about it from neighbors and others, how on earth did he come to a conclusion that the man is murdered. He might have been asleep, taking a shower etc. How did he know that he is murdered and instead of trying to reach out to him or waiting or inquiring more, called up police to look into the matter. But even that bit is not convincing because when I look at the motives, he (the mailman) had none. Although the victim was a million dollar man, the house was not tampered and no object was moved from its place (gathered from the statement spoken by Freddie). So its slightly confusing, but I would pick the mailman as a killer, he may have partnered along with either of the two siblings but the main suspect remains to be the mailman Kumar !
helperononline Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Two things i don't understand in this case why did the killer keep the corpse in the freezer ? when exactly the victim was killed ? mail man might have seen the body in the morning but it is obvious the victim was alive 24 hours before because he had made a on-line purchase so victim made his online purchase in the morning (one day before ) as per report he died at night which might be correct

Fredricks gave the real hint and thats why Pradyuman calls him lousy inspector 2. The killer was really careful because we found that nothing appears to be out of place in the house when we checked for clues. So it was inside Job <<--- 3. "HE MEANT EVERYTHING TO ME!" Confirm if Daughter spoke to dad a week ago or not using phone record.
