Jaitley wasn't handing out tax exemptions to the individual taxpayers with the budget, the deficit target isn't vastly different from last year and they're getting good money by auctions and future disinvestments. Lets see if the moolah does translate into real improvements, they'll need those in 2019.

That's something the telecom companies themselves have said. For many months they have been asking Govt to reduce the base price for spectrum but Govt has not done that. I'm quite sure tariffs will rise because all telecom companies will have huge debts.

If Govt reduced price you will tell they are helping industrialists and corruption.

Not in this case. Here high prices are hurting the entire industry which in turn has to pass on the debt burden to consumers in the form of higher tariffs.

Every case is similar, you cant be selective in certain cases, same can be argued about Coal blocks as well. Telecom companies practiced predatory pricing so far to gain market share, they cant blame spectrum pricing for their losses. Why so many companies started running new new circles, expanding unnecessarily?

On Rs.15 Lakh per citizen ....Arun Jaitley in Rajya Sabha tries to justify ridiculous utterances made by PM modi during the 2014 election campaign

" On questions about the basis for Modi's contention that each citizen could get Rs 15 lakh if entire black money stashed abroad was unearthed, Jaitley said, "...it is an illustrative statement which indicates that if any of those versions (of black money stashed abroad) are accepted, then pro-rata that is the benefit which accrues to citizen of India."
http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/rs-15-lakh-claim-was-based-on-illustrative-figures-arun-jaitley/articleshow/46515621.cms 15 Lakhs = $ 25,000 Dollars approx . (@ 1USD =60 INR ) For the 1.2 Billion population of India it comes to 30,000 BILLION or $ 30 Trillion Dollars. That is greater than India's GDP for the last 20 years COMBINED. It was a preposterous statement made by modijee intended to deceive people who are extremely naive and gullible.

For 6 years BJP opposed the Insurance Amendment Bill of 2008 and the increase in the FDI cap in insurance from 26 to 49% As recently as Dec 2013 ,the BJP was against hiking FDI cap in Insurance :

" Dec 2013 " BJP today said there will be no consensus on passing of insurance bill if the UPA government does not agree to retain the FDI cap at 26 per cent as against the proposed 49 per cent.Finance Minister P Chidambaram had met BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley on Thursday to seek support for the insurance Bill." ""BJP leader Yashwant Sinha said his party was willing to support the Insurance Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2008 provided the government shed its obstinate stand of providing 49 per cent FDI in the sector."
Now the Insurance Amendment bill has been passed with the increase in FDI cap to 49% with the help of Cong in Rajya Sabha. So, was BJP intentionally stalling essential economic reforms & progress since 2008 for narrow Political Interests ? http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/NDAs-1st-major-economic-reform-gets-Parliament-nod-RS-passes-insurance-bill/articleshow/46544437.cms

BJP could not stall anything. It was in a hopeless minority in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha prior to May 2014, and is still in a hopeless minority in Rajya Sabha. Question is why did not the Congress (which had majority support) pass the bill itself? Or was internally sabotaged? All credit to MODI (not the BJP) for pushing through the legislation.

Cong did NOT have majority support on the bill . The COMMUNISTS and the LEFTISTS just like BJP opposed the FDI hike for 6 years. It is good to see Cong did not behave like them and provided essential support to the bill. Cong has remained consistent on it's stand of FDI hike .

The Communists and BJP together did not have anything close to a majority in either house. It was Congress which did not push the bill enough. It was more concerned with idiocies like Land Bill.

Cairn India slapped with a Rs. 20 Thousand crore retrospective Tax claim .

Income Tax department has slapped a Rs 20,495 crore tax demand on Cairn India for failing to deduct withholding tax on alleged capital gains made by its erstwhile promoter, Cairn Energy Plc. Cairn India said it does not agree with the tax demand and will pursue all possible options to protect its interest. British foreign secretary Philip Hammond, who is on a two-day visit to India, told reporters in New Delhi that he had raised the issue with finance minister Arun Jaitley. “For India to attract investment, it is not enough to say we are open for business as (Prime Minister) Mr (Narendra) Modi has been saying. The country also has to send out clear signals that the business environment is predictable, stable and attractive for international investment,†Hammond said.
http://www.livemint.com/Companies/NXnRIVUBoZuOe5gbfK00aO/British-foreign-secretary-nudges-Jaitley-on-Cairn-Energy-tax.html?utm_source=copy It should be recalled that the Delhi High Court found both Cong and BJP Guilty last year of accepting ILLEGAL foreign donations from Cairn India's parent company Vedanta Resources.
Delhi High court found both political parties flouting the norms of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCR) by accepting donations from UK-based Vedanta Resources and its subsidiary companies in India. Section 4 of the FCR Act prohibits a political party or legislator from accepting foreign contributions."

come on dude they had numbers in their favour from the 2009-2011 it was a time when Mamata Bannerjee needed them in WB (or so she thought at that time) and the DMK too was with them. At that time the congress had 75 plus members on their own in rajya sabha plus some 25 from the allies (including DMK Trinamool and the NCP). All they needed was one probably the BSP. The commies were not even in the picture at that time. They could have pass the bill with ease. BJP were on something like 40 seats. With the NDA on 50 seats. They just had no inclination to pass big bills. They did not try hard enough.

^ They had 68 members . TMC and DMK and all the SICKularwadis opposed it during the winter session of 2013 when the FM met with Arun Jaitley , Sushma Swaraj and Yashwant Sinha . PM MMS public statements for support from the main national parties are available . You can blame the Cong for not trying hard enough but that will not explain BJP's opposition to the FDI hike and subsequent U-TURN will it ? BJP did not oppose because Cong was not trying hard enough , their main reason for opposition was the hike in FDI cap from 26% to 49%
