No. He was making too much sense. Hence moved to Science & Technology, which is seen as a 'punishment' ministry.

Days after the British Medical Journal published articles by doctors on corruption in Indian healthcare and prompted a debate among health and policy experts, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has said he is “fully conscious” he “inherited a poisoned chalice”. He has called the Medical Council of India a “corrupt organisation” and the Central Drug Standards Control Organisation, which oversees clinical trials, a “snake pit of vested interests”. In an email response to queries on corruption in the healthcare sector, Harsh Vardhan said: “As a doctor and former health minister, I am more aware than anybody else of the corruption that is eating into the entrails of every aspect of governance, including the health system. Within days of assuming office I had remarked that the Medical Council of India is a corrupt organisation… There is corruption in the approval of drugs. The Central Drugs Standard Controls Organisation, which is supposed to oversee clinical trials, is another snake pit of vested interests.” It is unfortunate he is no longer the health Minister. People of india were hoping he would bring about much needed radical change in the healthcare sector. LINK

See the list of Ministers from may 2009 onwards - Pawan Bansal had additional charge along with Parliamentary Affairs, then Vilasrao Deshmukh was moved from Rural Development ministry to science & tech (seen by everyone, including him, as a demotion), then Vilasrao passed away in Aug 2012 so Vayalar Ravi was given additional charge of his Ministries.....then 2 months later Jaipal Reddy was removed as Petroleum Minister (bcoz he was seen as doing a good job and Reliance was not happy with that) so he was removed as Oil Min and given Science & Tech, then in Modi Sarkar the Ministry was given to Jitendra Singh along with many other Ministries. And then finally in Nov 2014 Dr Harshwardhan was removed as Health Min and given Science & Tech - everyone, except you, sees this for what it is - being given a smaller ministry which is not among the priority areas for the Govt. 6 ministers in 6 years and many times its an additional charge along with bigger portfolios.

The first budgetary provision was made in 2013. Last year, the promise was crystallized to providing 348 essential drugs free. This was later whittled down to just 50 drugs. And now, the entire idea of a central scheme for free drug distribution has been given a quiet burial In his budget speech last year, finance minister Arun Jaitley stated: "To move towards 'Health for All', the two key initiatives i.e. the Free Drug Service and Free Diagnosis Service would be taken up on priority." However, there was no provision in the budget. In his budget speech this year, the words medicine, drugs and diagnostics do not figure anywhere. Reacting to the central free drug scheme being scrapped Dr T Sundararaman, visiting professor at the Centre for Social Medicine and Community Health in JNU and former director of government's National Health System Resource Centre said: "It is a complete withdrawal of the state in a major way from public health. The state withdrawal is a predatory opportunity for the private sector."..... Dr Amit Sengupta said that it was unfortunate that what started off as central scheme was being pushed onto the states so that the centre could absolve itself of all responsibility." The centre was supposed to bear 85% of the cost and the states were to contribute the remaining 15%. Good Move. Govt should not be gifting away Freebies like "Free Drugs" . LINK

I don't believe that would be the case, that would be too dictatorial even by BJP standards.

If say out of 10 screens in a multiplex,1 screen has to show a Marathi film, I don't think that is going to cause any harm.In south Indian states like TN, AP, KR the regional film industry is promoted over Bollywood, so if the same is being followed here at a much smaller scale, this should not cause a substantial loss to the movie goers as well as the multiplex owners.

First off, I agree that Marathi film industry produce a lot more quality films. But how many quality films and the one which are appealing to mass release every year? Quality films and potential hit films will surely be screened at numerous theaters. But the problem with all industries is that there will be a drought most of the days in a year. Imagine a movie like Balkadu being screened at numerous theatres for a month. it might potentially reduce the market value of marathi films. The case is same with every regional industries.
