Is "mankading" fair?

Its in the rules so its fair. Run outs are decided by inches so why does the batsman get the chance to unlawfully gain those few inches which might get him a run to decide a match.

ALSO, How is it different from stumping where a batsman is trying to gain an advantage by charging down the track and if he is caught he is punished?

Murali Kartik used this rule when he played for Surrey against Somerset in county championship 2012 Alex Barrow of Somerset was given run out due to mankading rule. Murali kartik ran him out . Jos Butler was also playing in that match for Somerset. So there is no way one can say that Butler was unaware of this law.

@Those saying that it is against the spirit of the game - when a batsman backs up too far he is also trying to get an unfair advantage - is that not against the spirit of the game?

^ stumped by wicketkeeper - batsman firmly in crease, runner outside the crease. Again, this is valid by the rules and hence correctly out. Mankading is out too and no need to warn.

It shouldn't even be a question of if it's fair nor should the team need to give a warning and what not. It clearly says within the ICC official rule that Mankanding is 100% legal. People are all about spirit of the game, heck what spirit of the game? If you need to follow the spirit of the game then the batsmen needs to stay behind the line. I don't understand why these nonsense stupid umpires makes the situation so awkward instead of just raising the finger and saying GTFO.
