vayuu1 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Which culture? Indian kings used to have multiple wives. Shri Krishna said to have 1000 wives. Only Ram had one wife but he was exception. We have made exception a norm.:cantstop: Well actually it was 16108 wives With 8 being patranis. That is Ruk mani Jambvati Satyabhama Mitravrinda Kalindi(that's river Yamuna) Lakshmana Nagnajita bhadra Each queen bore him 10 sons Raja chitraketu who was reborn as demon Vritra had 1 crore wives. Even arjuna is believed to have as many as 40 wives. With 4 being his most loved ones. That's draupadi, chitrangada, ullupi and Subhadra. Even karna had two wives vrushali and supriya. The case of lord krishna is different since he rescued those 16100 ladies from demon Narakasura and those princess were hell bent to die because they believed no body will accept them, hence Lord krishna to save the honour of those ladies married them. sent from dil se

Crookbond Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Harshvardhan - "Tackling" AIDS with morals! http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/articleshow/37146142.cms Dr Harsh Vardhan, who was the BJP's chief ministerial candidate in the Delhi 2013 assembly elections, has already issued orders to the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), which is responsible for running the HIV prevention programme in the country. It has been advised to tone down the emphasis on use of condoms and instead promote morals to tackle the disease.
CSK Fan Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Wow the trolls here are dense You do realize how dangerous toning down condom use and promotion can be, right? In a country already reeling with ignorance and mis-information
Yoda-esque Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 You do realize how dangerous toning down condom use and promotion can be' date=' right? In a country already reeling with ignorance and mis-information[/quote'] the only problem is certain people failing to comprehend what he has said.
Crookbond Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 the only problem is certain people failing to comprehend what he has said. Tone down the emphasis on condoms, use "morals" to tackle the issue would be my TL;DR. Is there something else which I am missing?
Yoda-esque Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Tone down the emphasis on condoms' date=' use "morals" to tackle the issue would be my TL;DR. Is there something else which I am missing?[/quote'] yes,you missed the point altogether.
Crookbond Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 yes' date='you missed the point altogether.[/quote'] Please tell me "What point am I missing". Just saying "Missed the point!", "Missed the point!" is hardly even a consideration. Even I can say, "You missed the point".

Detonator Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 yes' date='you missed the point altogether.[/quote'] Did I get it right? 1. Use our cultural morals and reduce/stop going to sex workers and other stuff. Condoms does have failure rates of preventing AIDS, so the less peeps you **** , lesser risk of catching HIV. 2. Even if you go, use condoms. Just don't think that condoms will always save you. The problem is he didn't say this explicitly. :hmmm:
Crookbond Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 read the message not the headline Not only...but also I have read the message and the headline. If it was "Not only, but also" - there would be no need to tone down on emphasis on condoms.

Crookbond Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 that's your inference not what he said. Sorry but that is not my inference. Post #23 - He has ordered NACO to tone down the emphasis on condoms.
Yoda-esque Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Sorry but that is not my inference. Post #23 - He has ordered NACO to tone down the emphasis on condoms. lost in translation no doubt by the media
Crookbond Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 lost in translation no doubt by the media Then please post the actual quote and the actual orders. We will know whether it was lost in translation or not. I have posted ET as a source, lets see yours.
Crookbond Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 ET also carries a direct quote from NACO representative. http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/articleshow/37146142.cms "For high-risk groups like sex workers and men who have sex with men, we will continue the emphasis on condoms as morals won't catch their attention," VK Subburaj of NACO told ET. "However, for the general public the minister has asked to stress on morals like being faithful, not indulging in pre-marital and extra-marital sex," he added.
