I have only this to point out: 25 off 49 balls. strike rate 51. Run rate when he came in: Somewhere between 6.5 and 7 an over. Run rate when he got out: Just over 4.5 an over. Bring Back Sehwag. Or promote Dhoni. Or You-tappa (TM Pommie comms).

Tanvir was bowling the spell of his life to block up one end, and the only reason why the run rate was so high in the first place is because Ganguly and Tendulkar rode their luck in the beginning to fluke a few undeserved boundaries Average score on this pitch - 225 Sehwag shouldn't play another ODI. Ever. He is crap

The man's incapable of carrying on momentum (and yes, there was plenty - the fluke boundaries came mostly in the first 5 overs, after that Ganguly and SRT started taking the attack to Pak's bowlers). The man's no good at batting for the team and keeping up a good run rate after a good start, and can't handle good bowling - unlike other batsmen (Dravid/Dhoni/Ganguly/SRT/Sehwag) who can still pick runs off good bowlers. BTW, when pointing out that the average score on this pitch is 225, note that Gambhir's strike rate would translate more to a 155-ish score.

This is just a difficult pitch to bat on. Dhoni or Yuvraj don't look that convincing either. Hilarious how people keep bringing up Sehwag. He is the easiest batsman to dismiss in ODIs - absolutely useless.

not a great performance today by gambhir, but he has been quite consistent in the last few months or so. and i am happy with the way he dealt with that bhendi bazaar cheapo afridi.
