^^ Every ground pretty much has struggled and will do. English cricket in a worrying state. Poor management has to people not bothering with the inflated ticket prices. I've been buying tickets from touts below face value.

Seriously, forget about England preparing a spin friendly track when they don't have Swann. Even Lords under five days of direct hot sun didn't crack and break up but offered turn from the footmarks.

its 29 degree celcius. the pitch is naturally going to crack up. add to that the heavy roller used between innings. there is no way its going to have as much grass as lords. lords has some rainy weather just before which aided growth

Trentbridge had brown grass and it did not break. You need grass which ever type to keep it together. Only a bare pitch will assist spinners enough for them make an impact.

Jadeja got plenty of turn at Lords on day 4 and 5. He was uncluky is another issue. A lot of the grass, especially towards the crease at either end is going to disappear due to the footmarks of the batsman and the bowlers. Especially with the spikes people have on now a days. Nobody is expecting turn on day 1. But there will be turn on days 4 and 5 if the match does go that far.

Hampshire head groundsman Nigel Gray believes the Ageas Bowl pitch is in good shape for the third Test between England and India.

"It's firm, there is a covering of grass on it, so it is looking like it will be a good pitch to me," Gray told BBC Radio Solent. "It won't be as grassy as Lord's was when that Test started, it will be much more like the Test we had against Sri Lanka three or four years ago, which was a good pitch. It went through, there was a bit in it for the bowlers and the batsman can play their shots, so I'm expecting very similar. "It's the same 22 yards so it looks like it should be a good pitch again but you never can really tell until you start playing on it. "But there is no reason to think it won't be a very good." "We want it to have a little bit of assistance for the seamers if possible rather than being a flat road. We want a decent balance between bat and ball."

Not a single ball turned from the stumps that is why he was so ineffective against right handers, Moreover, Jadeja only got turn on 4th evening. 5th day, he did not beat batsmen much because of the roller used by England had settled the pitch. Until and unless ball spins from the stumps of in front of batsmen, it will be really difficult for him to have much impact, even for Ashwin. A leg spinner is dangerous in that case.
