CG Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Shami also bowls 135kph on average. Why is he not taking wickets in this series ? He averages 73. By some people's logic, he should have been picking more wickets than B Kumar. The answer is simple. Extra pace is good for a swing bowler but what matters most is swing and control. Don't throw away what you are good for a few extra yards of pace. Remember what happened to Irfan Pathan. Shami does not get much swing he is more seam and reverse he has not bowled well so far.
NareshK Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 No he had the most no of edges which did not carry .The diff of 5k will make him a world class prospect .As i mentioned the many advantages he will have most imprtantly batsman will not always be on front foot. So taking 5 wicket hauls and 6 wicket hauls in his first tour of England against batsmen who are born and bred in these conditions doesnt make him a world class prospect ? :hysterical:

These are poor out of form batsman and english team is struggling its hysterical you think this team which was defeated by lankan attack .The diff 5ks will make is massive for a guy like bhuvi as i already mentioned which u choose to ignore when conditions do not favour swing.
Old guy Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 So taking 5 wicket hauls and 6 wicket hauls in his first tour of England against batsmen who are born and bred in these conditions doesnt make him a world class prospect ? :hysterical: maybe prospect was wrong word by him should have said bowler :winky: now he is good bowler in good conditions but with little more pace which he should add considering how young he is he can become complete bowler and man for all condtons now before fanboys attack me he already is our best bowler right now specialy n these conditons
NareshK Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 maybe prospect was wrong word by him should have said bowler :winky: now he is good bowler in good conditions but with little more pace which he should add considering how young he is he can become complete bowler and man for all condtons now before fanboys attack me he already is our best bowler right now specialy n these conditons As I said before, extra pace is good for a swing bowler but not everything. Some people here think just because a bowler bowls 130k he is not good enough and if he bowls 135k, he is world class. That's retarded logic.
CG Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 As I said before' date=' extra pace is good for a swing bowler but not everything. That's retarded logic.[/quote'] He does not bowl 130ks on average more like 125ks average .His lack of height makes its even more difficult .To be a wc bowler he has to do well everywhere which is not possible currenlty with his skillset.it may seem retarded to you but its proven with his record so far,
Old guy Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 As I said before' date=' extra pace is good for a swing bowler but not everything. Some people here think just because a bowler bowls 130k he is not good enough and if he bowls 135k, he is world class. That's retarded logic.[/quote'] i never said that but extra pace helps anderson bowled well in australia when he had extra pace and was ok when he lost pace but its not needed everywhere but it helps in many ways as more edges will carry and batsman will stay back and you get options like bouncers so yes if he can add 5 k's it will only be better but even now he is our best bowler..so i can only hope u get what i am trying to say current bhuvi is good bowler but to get better that is next step and similarly i said in other thread aaron bowled well but he iwll become good bowler if he improves accuracy..
CG Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 He has to aim higher look to get better not fade away after one series like pk.The main challenge is as we play in india where reverse swing plays a part to be in the game he has to improve .His batting will give him the cushion too.
NareshK Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 He does not bowl 130ks on average more like 125ks average .His lack of height makes its even more difficult .To be a wc bowler he has to do well everywhere which is not possible currenlty with his skillset.it may seem retarded to you but its proven with his record so far' date='[/quote'] He bowls 128-130k on average but he has already played 4 tests and bowled close to 100 overs and batted for a long time too, so his pace could be a bit down. In any case, is he taking wickets in this series or not ? Why are you more bothered about a few extra numbers on speedometer ? Also, there is nothing to suggest that just because you hit 135k you will get wickets in other conditions and if you bowl 130k, you won't. He never got a chance to bowl in NZ or SA, so reserve your judgment till he plays there.
Old guy Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 he will actually do well in south africa as there will be swing and also bounce which will help him carry edges not sure about australia but his batting means he will play and we can play 3 other quicks with ashwin and him making tail pretty strong
NareshK Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 If u know world class means . Really ? These are test class batsmen who literally have played their whole life in these conditions. Its like a spinner coming to India and bamboozling Indian batsmen and taking 5 wicket hauls in every game. Someone like that would get so much credit. Why are you discrediting our own bowler who has done so well ? Just because he doesnt hit 135K ? My god, this is sheer stupidity.
CG Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 He bowls 128-130k on average but he has already played 4 tests and bowled close to 100 overs and batted for a long time too, so his pace could be a bit down. I want him to develop to be a very good bowler as i have seen many always go down be it pk,sreesanth, munaf. He has control swing so next would be to add a few yards and increase stamina so he can be all conditions bowler.Similarly ishant has to get his seam position right and yadav aaron consistency. people who have followed indian cricket and fast bowling for some time have seen it all and know whats coming next the cycle always continues.
India-KXIP fan Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 I have a feeling at his pace in the Aus tour later this year he will be bowling to contain after about 10 overs, that's just what I think will happen there. He will be a liability but lets see what happens then. PK, BK do well in England cause the ball keeps swinging well into the innings which is their strength. Sure starter in England but alot to prove still in other conditions.
CSK Fan Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 18 wickets in 4 matches (6 innings) and still people are dissing him and putting him down.
beetle Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Naresh.....no point arguing on this .Some speed gun enthusiasts here are like mother in laws who will never be satisfied no matter what the poor guy does.....he will never be good enough.:giggle:
Marco Polo Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Dude needs to put on some weight . He is freakin 57 kgs. Lol
India-KXIP fan Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 18 wickets in 4 matches (6 innings) and still people are dissing him and putting him down. Not dissing him he has done well in England. But just predicting he will fail in Aus. Without much swing after 10 overs or so he will pick up his pace a bit to 130 from 125 this series but overall will be easy to negate and be bowling to contain runs. He doesn't have much other than swing. He doesn't get bounce, he doesn't have pace, how will he get wickets when ball is not swinging for 80 overs like in England? So these are questions he has to answer before reserving a permanent spot in test side. This series he has come on in the 70th over and gotten ball to swing away from right hander getting them caught behind. Won't happen in Aus, so all Im saying is there are questions to answer still.
Marco Polo Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 18 wickets in 4 matches (6 innings) and still people are dissing him and putting him down. everyone wants him to improve by adding on some pace. Nobody is putting him down.
Brainfade Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 everyone wants him to improve by adding on some pace. Nobody is putting him down. Exactly. If he can keep his skills at a higher pace, he will be even more effective. It's a no-brainer. Similarly, if Aaron can improve his consistency of line-and-length without sacrificing his pace, he would be more effective. Dang, if only Sreesanth had kept his head straight ....
