maniac Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Never wrote him off despite his lack of pace......Yes he could add some muscle and maybe a couple of yards but the kid has mad skills. Forget just skills but the guy is calm, cool and seems like a player who will step up in back-to-the-wall kind of situations. Yeah I have been a fan of genuine pace but this guy is something else. Seems like a thinking cricketer. Most importantly doesn't get overawed by occasions. and one more thing to like about him,He is not an unconventional,Unorthodox freak,Just a classical player both with bat and ball. A true Gem we have unearthed. This one's a keeper for the long haul.
maniac Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 :antijinx: :srh: but besides the point :beee: The guy is good,no one can deny it...The guy has the body frame and pace to be a perfect punching back and an object of ridicule, the very fact that he has overcome all that and is beloved not only by most Indian fans but experts and fans from other countries shows what a special player he is. He must have surely done something right.
Old guy Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 find of series and we are finally finding good balance in team so this tour to me has been pretty good for development of team but still long way to go
sensible-indian Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Brilliant find for us. A keeper. Pankaj on the other hand.....
vishalvirsingh Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 He is a master swinger but if he can bowl at 135 then why does he slow down so often. He needs to be careful..needs to keep his pace up too else good batsmen will sort him out. Nullify his swing.

When you get bowled to the ground by a wonderful captain who picks 4 bowlers, that is what will happen.
ThePhenomenal1 Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 He deserves a rest soon though. Very proud of this kid, backed him since that debut t20. You could tell there was something about him! Keep it up bhuvi!
ZeroBlack Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Need Yadav and Aaron opening the bowling, followed by B and Shami, then have a spinner like Oja, especially in Australia where you get more bounce even on a flat pitch.
CG Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 he has a long way to go.The next stage is crucial as it will be his batting & bowling .if he can develop in to a handy no 7,8 the balance he will provide will be great in all conditions. He is young so i expect his batting and bowling both to improve.
maniac Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 Unfair to compare Bhuvi with P.K........P.K had a purple patch in that WI series and the Eng series that followed....he was good in the CB series 2008 that's about it.....In between there were phases of mediocrity,Brain Farts and inconsistency. B.K So far has shown that he has brains+Skills...Can set up batsmen in conditions which favor him and when things are not in his favor being a medium pacer just like P.K can at-least keep it tight or tries to do the same....We should give him a A+ over B.K right there for effort. Also as a batsman and Fielder and over all cricketer leagues ahead of P.K......Insult to compare the 2 just based on the pace they bowled,In fact Bhuvi is quicker than P.K and that in itself is kind of embarrassing.
NareshK Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 One thing some people need to realize is bowlers like B Kumar rely on swing and bowling accurately and making batsmen play and get edges. Increasing pace by 5 kph won't make a massive difference to them. 135kph is not a magic figure where if you hit it, you automatically pick more wickets. Otherwise, Pankaj would be picking lot more wickets than B Kumar. Their strength is in swinging the ball and landing it in right areas. It would be good if he increases pace but it should not be at the expense of losing swing or control as it happened to many bowlers before. It should happen naturally as he keeps bowling more and should not strive for it and lose whatever strengths he has. For a tear away fast bowler, bowling 130 or 140+ makes a huge difference because they rely lot more on pace.
King Tendulkar Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Doing great. Superb skills and attitude I think surely can get better. Surely can incearse his speed a bit through working hard on fitness. Don't want him to be experess but if can do all he can in 80 to 84 range instead of 76 to 80 range he could become even more effective

No it will he gets so many edges which do not carry bowling at 125ks average is okay in eng but its not going to work in other places.Against Better batsman Also extra pace and swing helps and they will stay in the crease a lot more rather than bat outside to negate the swing.
King Tendulkar Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 The big problem for BK is when he starts dropping from 78 to 75 later in second or third spells. He would be even better if at least would stay in that 78mph zone all day
tweaker Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Made to bowl 9 overs spells by our captain, certainly find of this series. If he had played in SA & NZ,certainly the result would have been different

He got most of his wickets caught behind or caught at slips in this series. Mohd Shami and Pankaj also had edges not carrying to slips. Its because batsmen played with soft hands and slowness of the surface rather than a difference of 5kph.
NareshK Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Shami also bowls 135+ kph on average. Why is he not taking wickets in this series ? He averages 73. By some people's logic, he should have been picking more wickets than B Kumar. The answer is simple. Extra pace is good for a swing bowler but what matters most is swing and control. Don't throw away what you are good for a few extra yards of pace. Remember what happened to Irfan Pathan. Even Stuart Broad was bowling around 128-130kph in this test when he got 6 wickets.

No he had the most no of edges which did not carry .The diff of 5k will make him a world class prospect .As i mentioned the many advantages he will have most imprtantly batsman will not always be on front foot.
