Dhoni may quit test cricket after England series defeat

Let him go, then let's see where the Indian team is, Blind haters blindly forget one man cannot play 11 roles in the team. He cannot bat 11 times ffs. And that's what failed, batting. You cannot win test matches even if you have McGrath and Warne if your batsmen are returning 60-6 everytime. Let him go, ungrateful Indian idiots fans can self flagellate themselves. And then see the void.
After 3 years of abject loses which captain in the world will survive? There is only so long you can keep blaming everyone else except the captain Not everyone has amnesia like you that we only remember last few tests or only this series. This has been the call from a long, long time from many, many quarters And you know what, those so called haters have been proven right What void, 7 inning defeats in 5 years under him? He was hardly a major player even in home tests. What void is this which he will leave in tests?

Austin was saying he needs to play purely as a batsman...if i am misinterpreting that not sure but can't beleive we don't have pure batsman better than him in tests and better sloggers in t20s where he cannot play as a pure batter. Now in tests his keeping is not good and as I always said tests is about specialists.....if you are good in other departments than that is a bonus.. Would s.a have played kallis purely as a bowler if he was scoring ducks every other game? Now in t20s there is a case there for his allrounder skills but as a hitter he has been mediocre in that format. Yes Odis he is good enough to play purely as a batsman and his keeping is a very good bonus.
His keeping to spinners is actually very good and he rarely misses a stumping or a catch. When he is keeping to seamers, he may not dive around a lot but he is still a safe catcher. He is a very good batsman at home and averages 45. In overseas conditions, he averages 33 which is still decent for batsmen from India. Do remember these are averages for wicket keeper batsmen which tend to be much less than average for a normal batsman.

Well the way India have playing it won't make any difference if they loose by scoring another 20 runs less so it can't get any worse :hmmm: And also probably we need play away series in Netherlands Ireland or Zimbabwe in Green pitch something and if we loose there something the country will awaken how poor India have been in away test:giggle:

Give me one reason why Dhoni should not be sacked, one!

I don't think he should be test captain either and I think he will do fine just as a wicket keeper batsman but I wonder who will they appoint as the captain, if this news is indeed true ?

Captains have resigned after lesser losing streaks.. But he has a chance to win a home series against west indies and better his win loss stats. But seriously! Who in the 11 has performed enough to warrant test captaincy? Bhuvi? Or should we pick up someone brand new and directly select him as kaptaan? Tough choices. I reckon med will continue..

Is this the first tour that this is happening? A touring Indian team is a prepared script for some time now - you can predict what would happen even before the tour every time. Dhoni has failed with every team combination whether it be the senior players or the young players. There is no way any one with such a despicable test record can be allowed to take hold of the reins for so long. How much longer are we going to invest in a tried and test failure in Dhoni?

Now that I remember, his keeping in seamer friendly tracks is bad. If he is stripped off the captaincy, he must win the (batsman + keeper) to retain his spot. I don't see that happening for Aus tour. His keeping is really bad and his batting in Aussie tracks haven't been great (but he seems to have improved now). Also I don't know how the new Indian captain could work with Dhoni playing as just a player. First of all, guys of Dhoni's stature are so used to being captains that they would find it odd to take instructions from others. Second of all, not sure how the team environment would be in the new setup. I think if Dhoni quits as captain, he might quit Test cricket altogether and not hang around as a player. I could be wrong though.

Truly incredible. It is as if you guys have not watched Test cricket at all since the 2011 WC.
As if you didn't watch the same team flog Aussies at home 4-0, As if you didn't watch the same team win a Champions Trophy in England, As if you didn't watch the teamr each finals of T20 WC.. Test matches can go **** itself. It's a over the hill, overrated, underrewarding, unpopular format that ought to have been consigned to Wisden long back.

In all probability. Why should he have to bear this burden like this? When he wins 4-0, people give credit to pitches and bowlers. When he loses 3-1 with a set of batsmen who are as technically adept as Andheri streetcricketers, then he has to bear all blame. There is a limit to what any man can put up with.

How about 4-0 we lost against Eng and Aus. Or 2-1 against Eng at home. Or 1-0 against NZ. Or 3-1 that ended today. Aah....ok. Goodbye. No point discussing cricket with you from now on.

So why are you getting so worked up when someone wants him to go from tests? It is win-win both ways We have only made one T20 finals, we were pathetic in every WT20 tournament after that, you are confusing IPL with World T20 and CSK with India :cantstop: And seeing your views I can see why you want Dhoni to stay. And most Dhoni fans (Sidhoni, Velu, Yodasque) will always take IPL over test cricket, so no surprise there either

If you don't care about test cricket why are you even commenting? Be happy with IPL and T20.

Wrong! He is being blamed for not one single loss, but loses over a three year period. His 4-0 win is a distant dream now because it is surrounded by series after series after series loss Why should he be blamed for this? Because he is the bloody captain. The highest paid and most experience player in the Indian team. He gets all the perks of being a captain. He gets the most ads and most fan following. You somehow seem to be taking this all personally Anyone can lead India at home. And they have done nothing great at home either

What could've have Dhoni done when Tendulkar, Sehwag, Gambhir etc were playing as if with broomsticks instead of bats? Ask them to do additional nets? Teach them batting? Face it, he got the worst a captain can hope to get in consecutive overseas series, first time it was an ageing squad where legends were spending more time in the dressing room than they should've at the crease. Second instance, he got totally inexperienced bunch of kids who are so schooled in the T20 format that save for a fluke win, they all just gave up the pain at the earliest possible. Again, what could he have done? Go and bat for the youngsters? Give me the batting averages of the greats in 2011 series and the youngters in 2014 and that'll tell you a story.

So when Yuvraj plays and team wins world cup and T20 cup, Dhoni is the best captain ever. When youngsters fail, his entire team has to be blamed BTW, each and every expert has questioned and laughed at his tactics and captaincy in tests. What do you say to that? Not that you would know anything about that, you might not have even watched the matches, only IPL

You can go and saying what you want, but it still won't change the fact. We never have been great touring overseas. Now, even if we did well, that was primarily because our batsmen were upto task. Unfortuntately batsmen have been nothing but nincompoops in the last few overseas series. Bowlers win you tests, but batsmen can prevent you from losing those. India largely thrived on the latter philosophy. Now they have a bunch of kids with broomsticks masquareding as batsmen. Australia went through a miserable period since retirement of their greats, they haven't ****ing hell won one test match in a decade in India - and lost probably ten or so. Everytime Australia were burnt, the excuse was "Oh poor Clarkey, but hey that's a side rebuilding na" - finally he got a side he wanted and lo there came the Ashes. Dhoni needs to be given time to shape up a team under him and there is no substitiute for experience there.
