Err no. SC Bose used the 'enemy of my enemy is my friend' principle. There is a long way to go between friend and idol. Infact, SC Bose remains the ONLY individual ever, to officially denounce nazism on official Nazi radio service. SC Bose was the most pragmatic poltician India has ever had, even more so than Sardar patel. He is the kind of guy who'd take one look at Timur and deciede that he was a far bigger monster than Babur and promptly get Babur's help to beat Timur.
Source. Also, didn't he overlook war crimes?

IMO, he was no psychopath but he was a master-manipulator with little regard for human life. He shrewdly realized that the momentum he'd gained from being a socialist state in midst of the great depression ( Germany and the Soviet Union were the only two economies that didn't crumble in the late 1920s-mid 1930s depression. US, UK, France were all practically KO-ed) could be fuelled even further by turning the majority population (heterosexual germans) against the minorities ( non heeros and non Germans). It is cold, sadistic, inhuman but it is not a failure, since he did get the results. hitler had only one major failing for a world leader- he was a piss poor supreme war commander. he blew the battle of britain and he is the reason the soviets were able to turn the tide against much, much superior german machinery.
Yeah. Also, he launched the campaign against Russia very late and the army was just not prepared for the Russian winter. If he had launched it on the original date (which he cancelled for some inexplicable reason) then the outcome might have been very different.

The British raj in India was pretty brutal in its nature as well.

Bose wasn't in Germany for long enough to see or document the war crimes. The final solution didnt get prescribed till 1942/43. Bose was already gone by then. A good source is RC Majumder's bio on SC Bose. initially bose was promised money and limited military aid by Hitler. but since Hitler already addressed Bose as a friend and a highly esteemed leader from India on the radio before Bose's address where he said the discrimination of mankind is misguided, Hitler couldn't just wash his hands off of bose and seem like a fool but couldnt help him outright either. So he sent him to Japan...a political compromise for Hitler.

This is what I leaned from Hitler: His early days to power is a perfect Rags to riches story. Was selling paintings in front of Austrian Palace. Got humiliated in WW1 and then went on to gain power. This is never say die attitude with ambition. What he did after coming to power is another story......it is a lesson on what not to do when you come to power. Holocaust is not a small thing.

If he had launched it on the original date (which he cancelled for some inexplicable reason) then the outcome might have been very different.[/quote'] There were many, many mistakes in Russia. His idea to storm Leningrad (St Petersburg) and Moscow were extremely expensive and ill advised. His direct command lost an entire German army ( approx 1/5th of their fighting force) in the debacle of Stalingrad, where Paulus became the first ever Field Marshall of German Army to surrender, pretty much because Hitler got the entire army encircled. To make it worse, he tried to airlift supplies to this trapped army and got 40% of his luftwaffe shot down under heavy Russian flak. Once Luftwaffe- the best air force in the world back then- was decimated in Stalingrad, the rest of the allies stepped in, because now nothing covered the seas from which the Anglos approached. If Hitler had heeded Paulus and retreated from Stallingrad to buy time for the Leopard tank to hit full production, the outcome could've been much much different. IIRC the Germans only could deploy 30-40 of them near the very end of the war and even then the leopards had a KPD of 7:1 or more against the next best tank on the field- the Sherman and the Challenger. Germans could've won the war if hitler was not the guy playing an active part in formulating and decieding the battle plans. Oh and if they didnt have the world's worst suckbucket allies in italy. Honestly, Italy did so poorly in WWII, i don't think Bhutan would do much worse in a war today....

He was changed by WWI-deeply changed but i wouldn't say humiliated- atleast not personally so. yes, he had a German wounded pride complex but Hitler himself was a decorated soldier from WWI.

Japanese war crimes. The friend = enemy of enemy has rarely worked well in mankind. Don't get me wrong - I'm not questioning is patriotism but I have recently had serious doubts about his "pragmatism".

He was. But he was at the front line quite often and was also injured twice IIRC. That "book" was only propaganda and exaggeration.

Don't know about others' date=' but I definitely adore him. The only thing that I do not like is his ill treatment with the jews.[/quote'] Only that? He also killed many other innocent people including Gypsies, Russians, Poles and even Germans who are physically and mentally unfit. He wanted to establish a community full of Nordic Aryans by physically eliminating the other races.

Claims of ethics, spirituality and good intention go down the drain with the millions of jews and other people he murdered. Leading germany into a disastrous war while systematically eliminating a part of her own population says a lot about leadership and administrative skills.
