BlueBee Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Don't know about India but in ICF his smiley is used a lot :hitler: http://www.theindianrepublic.com/tbp/hitler-loved-india-100046192.html Sent from my Galaxy Note 2 using Tapatalk Pro
G_B_ Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 do the masses even know who hitler is? I am guessing about 20% of the population of India know who hitler is. Of which the majority of them dont subscribe to his thoughts. So your talking about 5-7% of the population. These numbers are mine Btw. My own guesstimate. But in a country where 11-12% of the people have a high school education and above i am guessing the majority dont know much about international history.
vvvslaxman Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 True, I bump into FB messages comparing Hitler with our politicans to deride our politicans all the time. I know our politicans are big looters. But they are not mass killers.
kubrickian Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 In India, they call someone "Hitler" who is like a dictator or strict authoritarian. I doubt many people have knowledge of the Holocaust or World War 2. We don't have the stigma of anti semitism like in the West, so nobody gets offended even if someone uses Hitler reference in a casual way.

Thanks to halfassed history knowledge of Indian public courtesy NCERT brainwashing. :giggle:
Malcolm Merlyn Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Half the Indians have no knowledge of Hitler's relation with holocaust. Many just believe that he was a dictator who listened to no one. A very oft used phrase in India for someone who is strict or high handed is "Woh hitler hai" or "Woh hitlari karta hai"
Malcolm Merlyn Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 yes he is adored. sc bose was one of his idols SC bose wasnt his idol.

Just the other day the CM of Telengana, KCR said that he would be like Hitler in catching corrupt people or something like that - these people simply don't know the horrors of what Hitler did. And that is the main reason why the term "Hitler" is so misused.

Lil do they know he's one of the most dreaded persons in the history. His hatred against the races whom he categorised as 'Undesirable' and 'Inferior', Mainly the Jews. Khalpat Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Doesn't this picture just shatter today's constructed images of who Hitler was? A Picture, A Story, A Different Perspective Do you understand how scary this picture is god forbid a real person do real person things he wasnt just a robot who killed people jesus ****ing christ uh yeah its not like he killed and tortured six million jews or anything Hold on just a tick. Listen, I’m Jewish, so I’m perfectly capable of understanding that what he did was just…..well, there are no words for it. But let’s not round it up to simply Jews that got killed. It was six million people that died in those camps, not just Jews. Did you know that homosexuals were sent there, too? Yeah, I’m sure you did. They had to wear special little symbols on their clothes. Do you know what it was? It was a pink triangle. It was six million PEOPLE. But you let that roll over in your mind for a while and you are going to forever see this man as a monster, but that’s not what he was. He was someone who thought he was truly doing something right for his nation, no matter how *****y he was doing it. Believe me when I say that I don’t like him. I really don’t. My grandfather’s brothers died in those camps, and my grandfather escaped to Spain, then to Mexico. He was lucky. This is not a monster holding hands with a little girl. This is Adolf Hitler, a man, holding hands with a little girl. Yeah. It’s ****ing scary. It really is. Do you know why? It’s because you’re seeing that he wasn’t, in fact, a monster. You’re seeing in this picture that he was a man. He was a man, and that’s really the saddest part of it all. As a History major who specializes in the history of early modern Europe, I’ve studied a lot of dictators in detail, not just Hitler. The number one mistake anyone could ever make in history is making the assumption that only inhuman monsters are capable of doing terrible things. Stop dehumanizing Hitler just so you can reassure yourself that “normal†humans aren’t capable of doing bad things. Hitler liked children and dogs, he was a vegetarian and he cried like a little boy when his mother died. I’m not saying he was a good, innocent person, but when you stop attributing human characteristics to historical figures like Hitler, it’s how you overlook people just like him in real life, and it’s how people like him end up back in power. :two_thumbs_up: to the bolded part
Sachin=GOD Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 A Picture, A Story, A Different Perspective :two_thumbs_up: to the bolded part Agree with the bolded part. Most of the times it is the normal humans who go on to become dictators and/or criminals etc. In fact I read somewhere that when the FBI did a profile of the serial killers it had caught in the last few decades, it found that a majority of them were so normal that if you were to have contact with them or see them, you wouldn't give them a second thought.
Crookbond Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 SC bose wasnt his idol. The other way round is quite true though.
kubrickian Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Agree with the bolded part. Most of the times it is the normal humans who go on to become dictators and/or criminals etc. In fact I read somewhere that when the FBI did a profile of the serial killers it had caught in the last few decades' date= it found that a majority of them were so normal that if you were to have contact with them or see them, you wouldn't give them a second thought. Most of the serial killers, sociopaths are masters in manipulation and deception. Even though they seem normal, they are actually not. Many of them exhibit such tendencies since a young age, so not sure I would agree all humans are "normal". Some people are wired differently and have an evil mindset. But don't think Hitler is one of those. He believed Jews and other people were his enemies and he was doing his best to make Germany a great country. Of course, he was completely wrong and did horrible, inhuman deeds but don't think he is a psychopath.
Muloghonto Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 The other way round is quite true though. Err no. SC Bose used the 'enemy of my enemy is my friend' principle. There is a long way to go between friend and idol. Infact, SC Bose remains the ONLY individual ever, to officially denounce nazism on official Nazi radio service. SC Bose was the most pragmatic poltician India has ever had, even more so than Sardar patel. He is the kind of guy who'd take one look at Timur and deciede that he was a far bigger monster than Babur and promptly get Babur's help to beat Timur.

Of course, he was completely wrong and did horrible, inhuman deeds but don't think he is a psychopath. IMO, he was no psychopath but he was a master-manipulator with little regard for human life. He shrewdly realized that the momentum he'd gained from being a socialist state in midst of the great depression ( Germany and the Soviet Union were the only two economies that didn't crumble in the late 1920s-mid 1930s depression. US, UK, France were all practically KO-ed) could be fuelled even further by turning the majority population (heterosexual germans) against the minorities ( non heeros and non Germans). It is cold, sadistic, inhuman but it is not a failure, since he did get the results. hitler had only one major failing for a world leader- he was a piss poor supreme war commander. he blew the battle of britain and he is the reason the soviets were able to turn the tide against much, much superior german machinery.
