Our board and players have picked their priorities, and I am completely OK with it. Each win here gives me enough pleasure to erase the test losses. And I love laughing at the Poms for their complete and total ineptitude in 50-over ODIs.

Nope. They look club class playing in the ODIs. We looked club class playing tests. Different strokes for different folks. That's the message.

In one dayers we lose to bangladesh, kenya, England lose to scotland, ireland.. it can all happen. It is nature of the beast. Anyone can shock anyone. Not that India is not good. You just have to be good for a period of 3 or 4 hours that's about it. That is not a tough job. Also England has rarely been a good ODI side. our loss to them last series was an exception. We are a better side than them. Swann left. No Broad. No KP. Not sure why Bopara is not being played . They can compete. still result can go either way. We are seasoned as a team in ODIs. Our real test will be in 2015 world cup.

SRT100 Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 One reason we need to address is to play big shots in test matches early and take the ones and twos, this places pressure on the captain to keep the slip cordon and gully in play. Sehwag was good as an opener and forced captains to change field settings. We do not need Sehwag now as he is too old and blind but we need an attacking opener(s). I noticed England's RR was fairly average ie high 3s in Tests but they waited and waited to score, in ODIs they dont have this luxury.

All I'm saying is scoring runs in tests is different to scoring in ODIs, the skills required are completely different. The OP is concluding on the basis of the last 2 ODIs that the England test team are a bunch of "clowns" who we should have thrashed in tests. Completely deluded thinking, which sadly has crept into the mindset of most Indian fans, and continues to influence our test selection on the basis of ODI and IPL performances.
