India's issues

When spinners weren't in the game, dhoni mishandles pacers and the result is a HIGH SCORE. Dhoni mishandles bowlers and eases pressure on new batsmen which lets them settle in and score freely. Then he brings yadav and shami who get tonked, and he persists with jadeja and ashwin at the death who got tonked even more. Bhuvi wasn't even tried! It's a complete mess. This puts pressure on batsmen. We still made a decent total but with an unsettled batting lineup, you need less runs to chase. And WTF was jadeja doing, he took forever to start hitting it. Matchwinner my **** Ashwin took forever too. That winner's instinct was missing here, only guys who showed grit in match situation were rayudu and raina. Remember uthappa when he made that 50 in AUS in losing cause, he tried but got scapegoat treatment. Yadav mistreated. Rayudu probably seen as scapegoat too even though he played a dumb shot. Yet jadeja plays selfishly, glad he didn't get a 100 didn't deserve it. +ve - India beat england 3-1 at home. Good improvement overall.

lets not blame jaddu the batsman today; game was more or less over by the time he arrived. No 7 comes into play when you need 60-70 to win not 140+ @ 8+ . Yadav the bowler was absolutely mishandled. Now had Umesh gone for runs i would have understood but 4 spell when the guy just bowled 6 over is being unfair to the guy with so much potential. Overall a game Dhoni let slip away when we could have restricted eng to 250 which we could have chased.

We need better and consistent batters than Rayudu' date=' Jadeja, Dhawan for WC and better 3rd seamer. Thats already 4 players.[/quote'] Yadav/Aaron for 3rd seamer. you need a genuine quick. Mohit sharmas and Vinays won't win you a world cup. Dhawan is a matchwinner but just needs to sort out his spinner shot selection. Was looking good. Rayudu needs another few games, and jadeja should be seen as replaceable

He didn't even try to get 5-6 an over, he only went after it when it was 70 off 30 - disgraceful. Should have fought, he is certainly capable. Just plays like a dud.

I think the spinners took it a bit lightly because it was a dead rubber game. They bowled a bit too short and wide unlike the previous 3 ODIs and gave away easy runs to Buttler and Root. If we had got a couple of wickets at that stage with tight spells from spinners, England would have folded below 240 like previous games. Once England had wickets in hand, they were going to score lots of runs in last 15 overs. The pitch had something for seamers and spinners and was not a complete flat track. We gave away 25 runs more than par and it was never going to be easy to chase once we lost early wickets. Good start is the key to chasing 300 and we didnt have that. In any case, good performance by India in ODI series for winning 3-1.

I just want my team to be better. Why have 3-1 when you can win 4-0 and shut england up. Why give them that little bit consolation when you can embarrass them? I am happy with the series win, really happy we won an overseas series after last 2 tours but we let our guard down again.

Not really. We saw what jadeja could do. Its just that he does it when game is done and dusted (70 off 30) and so that means he doesn't back himself. He should have attacked then if game was as good as over when dhoni fell. Im not saying go crazy but 5-6 runs an over, safe boundary. Powerplay was crap. Ashwin didn't even try. Jadeja did many dot balls. Should have pressed on, runs are runs. Fact is, we gave up and lost at the end. Margin of loss was reduced but if he had tried earlier and ashwin hung on, maybe things would have been different. Almost scored 100 by himself and when he came in we needed 120-130. Its about guts.

It's the same reason we lost in south Africa and new zealand. On quicker pitches batsman don't have to generate their own power that much and our spinners becomes useless. On slow pitches they look invinsible.

India were the better side until about the 35th over of England's innings. Then they lost the plot, except Shami who bowled some excellent yorlers. Still I expected 290 wouldn't be enough but India's batsmen let England's bowlers bowl to them for some reason, like in the Tests. I got my wish of a Root hundred. Hopefully he takes that into Yorkshire's game next week should the ECB allow us his services. Saw glimpses of Kohli's talent but shame he didn't hang around longer
