Both are equally difficult. Bowlers like Steyn does well even in Dead pitches.

Vinay Kumar might be too extreme an example, but lets say someone like Venkatesh Prasad. If its you and me, its easy call- we would find Marshall more difficult, period. Simply because we have never really faced a 90-95mph bowler. But what if you have faced 90-95mph bowlers regularly and know what to look for, what your trigger movements are, etc etc ? Ie, say you are a reputed FC batsman or better (national duty guy). For them, facing Venky Prasad on a real juicy pitch might be less favorable than facing marshall on a low, true bouncing dust bowl. Simply because for them, pace is not issue once certain deliveries can be dealt with due to the low & slowness of the pitch's bounce. So i think its a matter of batting competency too.

Mediocre bowlers are always easy, I assume you wanted to say medium pacers. Facing good medium pacers (who can swing the ball) on a lively wicket is at least as difficult as facing good fast bowlers on a dead wicket. Praveen Kumar was nearly as good as Anderson in 2011, because he really swung the ball both ways nicely, but he did not get any support from either bowlers or batsmen apart from Dravid.
