WC first part is just formality. Only in 2007 all messed up,but that again because of India & Pakistan rather than format. Its same in football as well.

The WC will really start from QF onwards and whoever shows up for the 3 games wins the tourney. That's why India with folks like Dhoni, Kohli & Raina who can handle pressure will be key for us and the format should help us.

Alastair Cook to depart as England one-day captain

Alastair Cook’s captaincy of the one-day team looks to be over with the England selectors set to announce his departure after losing patience with his form and a string of poor results. England are understood to have decided to make the break on Friday afternoon after a selection meeting at Trent Bridge just days after the team returned from a 5-2 series defeat in Sri Lanka. Eoin Morgan is now set to lead the side for the tri-series in Australia after Christmas and then the World Cup in February. Cook will now concentrate on captaining the Test side and England’s bid to regain the Ashes next summer. Support for Cook from the England hierarchy had been steadfast until the final defeat of the tour to Sri Lanka where his side were hopelessly outplayed and the England captain made a scratchy 32. When someone's captaincy is not working out, it is better to replace him. Cook probably does not have a godfather in ECB to keep him immune unlike you know who. :winky:

What annoys me is the omission of Ballance. England do not know the real Gary Ballance. They think he's some sort of Trott clone, but many Yorkshire supporters would tell you his LO cricket is actually better than his longer form cricket, and that's for a county not renowned for it's limited overs success.
