You are saying as if he's the only guy who's been under such pressure and needs to skip matches to gain form. This happens to every batsman, every single batsman. It's about being brave and rectifying the mistakes in the matches. I mean what's the gurantee that he, after correcting things in domestic by scoring a big 100 which he would as he's a very good player(not great for me as yet), that it wouldn't be repeated again in the International matches? The problem I have with him is that he has shown no sign of changing his game/making adjustments. There are days when you have to graft, like he himself did in Nagpur but he's not showing any such signs. He may score eventualy, but skipping matches at 25 is just not the thing for me atleast.
Its not about pressure or gaining form, its about a major technical fault that has crept in.That needs to be the foremost priority. Not match pressure,we know he can handle that. But he needs to fix his technique and facing international bowlers in match pressure is not right way. There are no guarantees in life for such things, but you have to make the best possible effort. There is far less chance of him sorting his issues out in matches. He hasn't shown changes because he hasnt the requisite time of working on it.Thats what I am saying.Had a mini-break where he worked with Sachin, but thats not enough apparently. He didn't have technical issues to contend in Nagpur Test. Players get dropped, work on their issues and come back.Raina did recently. How is this different except Kohli is an established member of the team.

its only a matter of time before he gets going again....Me thinks India is lucky he didnt hit the rough patch during the WC..I expect him to score a century this series.

why can't he pick and choose to correct his technique before an important Aussie tour and WC? Playing international matches is pressure he doesnt need right now.He needs an environment where his first mistake isnt his last and doesnt cost India as he takes it almost personally. Should play domestics but skipping intl. ones shouldnt be an issue. When was the last time he missed a series.Guy plays too much anyway and it probably has had an effect
No player worth his salt will do what you are saying, what makes them great is complete belief in their own abilities and some low scores in a series will not shake their confidence. Kohli is in his prime , he need more matches not less.

Its not just low scores or bad form. Its a technical weakness. We need to differentiate between that. You don't correct technical errors in international cricket. Kohli is not in his prime now,far from it. What is important is Aussie tour and WC,not this WI series. We need to make sure hes in best shape before Aus tour

Ponting had a technical weakness thru out his career when starting his innings, his feet went nowhere and was always a suspect to short of good length ball coming in, But not many bowlers could trouble him there. Kohli plays with angled bat and does not move back and across when defending , I don't think he is going to change that technique at this stage of his career. It is all about overcoming that weakness all he needs is a score everything else will fall into place. Not many bowlers can do what Jimmy did consistently. Kohli has this whole series to sort himself and IMO he will sort himself out.

Ponting's was a minor weakness as compared to Kohli.hes struggling against normal outswing and most bowlers can bowl it. I'm not saying change overall technique, but modify a little bit to cope better bcoz surely he'll be targetted there now repeatedly.Playing with soft hands, playing straighter instead of towards mid on can all be options that don't require major reshuffle but a lot of practice to make it habitual. He did have a score in T20 in England.but problem is there. Playing domestics will help him get away from the pressure and focus solely on correcting technique. He might sort it out anyway but doing it in nets and domestic will give him more opportunity to do so.

But he did have a string of lowly scores in that series. He overcame that and grafted his way back to runs. That's what you need to do. He may be a certainity in the team, but at this moment, he's too young to pick and choose matches. Every player has a weakness here and there. Doesn't mean they have act sissy skip matches and get back to form. If anything he should play even more(like domestic and other stuffs) and get back to form. Also, if he skips matches now and fails on Oz tour, then it'll be like he didn't have match practice.

Again, overcoming loss of form and confidence is entirely different from overcoming a major technical weakness that makes you look like a tailender. Every player doesnt have such major technical issues. Its not about acting sissy, but prioritising, atm our priority should be getting his technical glitches fixed ASAP,even if that means we have to play without him vs WI. Not saying he shouldnt play at all,but should play only domestics and other similar matches where pressure isnt that big.

I think we'll just go round and round stating the same things. Ok, Tell me one thing, in domestic the quality of bowling is something that you know. He's too good a player to not to score against Ranji chaap bowling. And he lands up in Oz, with the same technical glitch again. More than technique it's a confidence thing for him now. Every player has a weakness, but they have to trust their strenghts and score. Can't he play out 50 overs in an ODI and claw his way back in form?

I think with current form and issues, even scoring against Ranji bowlers won't be that easy for him. There is Duleep Trophy and best bowlers of India except those in national team will play. However it'd easier than WI bowlers so will allow that breathing space he needs. I don't think its a confidence issue. If that was the case,he would be getting out in other ways than same edging a outswing delivery behind. Its purely technical. Trusting your strengths is good, but accepting your issues and working on them isn't bad either rather than ignoring them. There is no shame in that.

no not many bowlers bowl at lengths along with line which jimmy bowls,Taylor is very good bowler whose career was derailed by injuries so he is no scrub. There is no domestic bowler who is of that caliber. unless he changes his technique to going back and across, Kohli IMO will remain suspect there. Playing with hard hands is not his problem and Kohli is not failing because of pressure.

Trust me he would belt the same bowlers on the featherbeds in India. He has had so much international experience that he can easily manage these bowlers. Yes the issue is technical but having said that, his confidence is so down that he's not even able to make adjustments .He will have to discipline his mind to come out of this rut. Yes its a test of his technique but also being able to be mentally strong. To be able to adjust his game and also back himself. And well, that's what separates the boys from the men doesn't it?

Ipl's flat tracks have completely ruined his batting form. Little bit of movement and he can't handle it. This wasn't the case before Ipl.
He was no god before as well. No one is. Weaknesses can occur in anyone's game. It's about how quickly you can move out of it. You see how Dravid evolved from the horrendous tour in 1999. You see how any weakness in Sachin's game never remained for more than a month. It's about how you react to the bad habits that you develop.
