Chaos
What are your thoughts on who should open with karthick? i would def. go with jaffer especially for the australia tour. He is not too bad of a choice in tests. Link to comment
Cricketics
no reason to even compare.. sehwag is totally out of sync.. that said i would like to see sehwag go Australia.. but at same time would want Jaffer to play in Australia too.... guy has scored and scored well for us recently.. got ton in safland, england, windies... and in India.. \ it's time we take him to Aus so that he can do some honourz there too.. Rock Solid opener.. Link to comment
bharat297
I would have thought Jaffer is the set opener ... since he is the specialist ... the one with the solid technique and such and it was more of a question of who should open with Jaffer ... Karthik or Sehwag. Link to comment

Karthik or Sehwag. You are right. This is how we should evaluate. For now atleast, Jaffer is fixed. Though a really poor outing against Pak in matches in this series, can bring questions on this. We should evaluate Dinesh Karthik's position - does he have the TECHNIQUE to be an opener? We should look at that in this series. Link to comment
Guest dada_rocks
sehwag is must Link to comment

guju24
shewag and jaffar should go for aus tour...not karthik and i think that would be an awsome opening pair...wooooooooo Link to comment
Guest dada_rocks
Guy stroked a near hundred before lunch in the penultimte series before getting dropped....... Sehwag is must other one has to be someone with solid technique........ I will go for akash chopra because jaffer falls over playing those on drive and is a tad slow can't expect him to defend bret lee's in-dipper for long Link to comment
Rohan495
My dad said he cant play pace properly. It was crazy right when Karthik got out, my dad was like this guy is going to get out next ball and so he did. I feel like Sehwag should be brought back in for Aus series, lets see what karthik can do for the remaining series hes a hardworking cricketer no doubt, he scored the most runs this season. I feel like Jaffer is a good player but he gets good starts and then gets out. He needs to work on that. Sehwag should sit in the wings just like Yuvraj has been. Link to comment
Yuvraj4Captaincy
Why should Jaffer be replaced? This guy is scoring runs for us everywhere. Link to comment
bharat297
Yeah Jaffer should be the set one ... he has been opening the batting all his life ... we know he has the temperament and the technique to bat all day if he has to ... it should be a question of Sehwag vs Karthik ... who should open with Jaffer Link to comment
Ram
Guys , you are just hoping against hope on Sehwag. I suggest you see the tell-tale signs and get real. That guy is not one he used to be. Link to comment
bharat297
^ Maybe we are hoping but In any case I think the selectors would be stupid to not try Sehwag in at least 1 test before the aussie series ... just in case he turns his form around. Link to comment

He can't even score against Mumbai's sh itty bowling attack and you still expect him to hit double hundreds against Australia ? Sehwag had a good run in Test cricket but he has peaked now. He will never score as many runs as he did from '02-'05. He is like an Indian Michael Slater - was awesome in the first half of his career, but figured out in the 2nd. I'd rather stick with Karthik and Jaffer. They have done NOTHING wrong so far. Link to comment
Chaos
dude pred, karthick and jaffer partnership will be ROTTEN in australia. if u dont have aggresive opener, aussies will be all over you. and u will create a new thread called "Ok, lets drop them!". Link to comment

He doesn't score at an SR of 70 like Sehwag did but he gets them a fair clip and he knows how to convert 40s and 50s into big scores. Likewise with Karthik - a batsman who always plays his shots. Predator_05
always? they go at 50-55 at most Which is perfectly fine in Test cricket. This is the best opening combo India has. Stop being so fickle. Link to comment
gs
Sehwag cant stake a claim to the opener's slot at this point in time but I am hoping against hope that he would rediscover his old magic soon. He is a rare breed of explosive openers that India can ill afford to lose. Hope he doesn't turn out to be yet another Vinod Kambli. Link to comment
