His only intention with this whole act is to get as much attention and publicity as possible so IMO the only way to deal with him is to completely ignore him. The more media coverage he gets (whether its positive or negative) the more such things he will do in the future to get more publicity. He is no longer relevant and should be treated as such instead of creating unnecessary controversies over his deliberately provocative actions/statements.

How can you expect the PM of a neighboring country, let alone a hostile one, to turn up when you have deliberately not invited the PM of your own country. It doesn't make sense unless he is doing it to make some statement or because of some other motive.

The hereditary institution of the Shahi Imam hasn't done any work whatsoever since the last 400+ years....

The bullet has already left the barrel. It does not matter what the truth is but by declaring himself to be representing all Muslims of India, he has collectively condemned every Indian Muslim essentially. His words will definitely resonate among rest of India and half truths will be accepted as reality on top of already growing animosity and mistrust. Well done Imam.

The 2011 census did capture religion, but demographics by religion has not been published. However, considering that the Muslim population has been trending upwards, it can be assumed that they perhaps make about 16% of the total population and Hinduism has declined to about 77% of the total population. Other significant religions should have maintained their 2001 percentages. In WB specific, if one accounts for the unrestricted migration of Bangladeshis tacitly ignored by the current administration and even past governments along with the high birth rates of Muslims v/s other religions, it is very likely that Muslims make up more than 30% of the population now.
